Hi, I'm retrogamer_2.0. I was just wondering out of curiosity, how can I get an original Japanese Famicom to work perfectly in TV PAL (SECAM)?  :-[

P

You can't, the TV needs to support NTSC. The alternative is to use some sort of adapter, or if your TV is SECAM only you would need to convert to RGB because SECAM is too different from NTSC and PAL. Either way it's not a perfect result.

Thankfully most PAL TV-sets do support NTSC via composite and (if available) S-video. Unfortunately the RF-demodulator is usually only for PAL however, so you either need a "New Famicom" (HVC-101), a Twin Famicom or an original Famicom (HVC-001) that has been AV-modded. Another alternative is to use an NTSC video player to convert RF to composite. But it must have an NTSC RF-demodulator in that case, not one of those that just says "NTSC playback" (as most PAL video players do).

Also you need a step-down converter for the AC-adapter or use another compatible adapter (the NES AC-adapter is not) that works with European AC power. Check out the power FAQ.
