Today I went at my local EB games shop, and found a genesis game that had a white small handwritten label on it. On the label it simply says '' Barkley BB'' .The cart doesn't have any sticker residue on it, and looks like it never had a sticker from the begining (except of the label with the name of the game), since there are a couple of scratches on where the sticker should be. Anyway, so I bought the game for 99 cents, and investigated it more. On the back of the cart there is a logo of a compagny called Accolade, and the screws that hold the casing are easily removable. So I unscrewed it, to find a small board with the logo Accolade on it, with only one chip. Some pins of the board seem to be soldered by hand. The game also works fine, and seems to be a basket ball game. Not a big game, but still I was wondering, could it be possible it's some kind of sample cart? :)

Try and check if in the game you see the word prototype anywhere. I seen some games contain that word if they are real prototypes.

It doesn't seem to mention the word proto anywhere as I know of... I'll take pics later because I don't have access to a camera at the moment.

Finally, I got some pictures! :-X ;D

Here you can see that nothing holds the top of the case (i've recently got another accolade game in the same kind of casing but the top is held tight unlike this one.

The board looks normal, but I think this game could have been some kind of demo or sample released right before it's initial release. What do you guys think?

It has a rom, not eproms. It's a retail game. Sorry...

keiffer01

Not all protos contain eproms you know. Some protos for the SNES for example were made with rom chips, but they only differed with the code or what was written on the chip. And it might not be necessairly a proto, but more of a sample game... ???
