Hi there, Famicom boys!

My friend said to me that he would not buy the Famicom AV because
of it's possible incompatibilities with the Famicom games library.

Nevermind!

His position shocked me!

Is there any known incompatibility?!
I never had problems playing with this wonderful video game!

Did you?

There shouldn't be any, except from the lack of microphone; but do you really use it ? :P

I can name two games right off the bat that use it

Kid Icarus
Legend of Zelda

Profeta Yoshitake, maybe its the fact that English is a second lanuage for you, but hot damn I do sure enjoy reading your posts. You bring a certain energy to each one that is unequalled.

To answer your question, your friend is full of crap :P I own several Famicoms (hopefully soon a Twin Famicom as well) and the only incompatibilites I've seen are with Famiclones. That being said, the AV Famicom's controller port 2 is like an NES Controller port 2, so that means no mic. What this means is you can't play certain parts of certain games on the AV, like killing the pols vice in Zelda or lower the prices in Kid Ikarus. Still, I highy recommend the AV Famicom above any other, except for maybe the Titler  ;D

 ;D

Well, I actually expected to learn some Famicom AV glitches
from my Famicom World fellows, but you guys are just making
me feel comfortable of everything that I said to my friend.
[except for the crap!  ;)]

Famicom AV for me is the best 8 bit console, including Pc-Engine
and all famiclones. For me, even the NES is a BAD Famiclone.
[for me the Famicom AV is the best concole ever!]  :D

I agree. The ability to use NES controllers, the fact that its got two audio jacks for mono and psudo stereo ( I don't really understand it...little help 133Mhz?) it's size is nice, I like the design, and the best thing about it is the RCA connector is the EXACT same one the SNES, N64 and Gamecube uses!

This of course means that you can simply unplug the Famicom and exchange it with any of the newer Nintendo consoles save the Wii (why oh why did Nintendo change it :'()

Oh yeah...
Shame on you Nintendo...

I really do explore this feature.
I play with all platforms from Famicom to GameCube with the same
marvelous RCA cable!

did an av famicom come with an ac adapter or an av plug looking at a old post on this site makes me wounder  ??? just picked one off rising stuff in box for $88 shipped  ;D and didnt see the ac or av  in the picture .oh and i know i can use my old famicom ac and any av from a super nin--game cube.

JC

Mine came with an AV cord, but no power adaptor. I think the adaptors were sold separately. I don't see how they would've fit it in the box.

Profeta Yoshitake

I think that it is because the original Famicom and the Super Famicom were just OMNIPRESENT in Japan when Nintendo released the New Famicom AV, so everyone already had the adapter.

What a great place for a living!   :D

The AV Famicom did not come with EITHER.  The box contained the manual, the system and 2 dogbone controllers.

AV Cables and AC Adaptors were sold separately.

An official Famicom AC Adaptor will work with the AV Famicom and any AV Cables from SNES/SFC, N64 or Gamecube will work.
