I have a problem with my Super Famicom. I can get the red light to turn on when I turn it on, but my TV receives no signal. ??? I'm using the AV out cable that I use for my NTSC SNES, 64 and Cube. Is it some channel I need to go to(I would think not) because it's Japanese, or is it because I need a Japanese AV Out(doesn't really make sense for me either). My other problem is on my SNES with lockout plastic removed, FF5 refuses to run, along with a few other games. I didn't pay much for these so it's not the end of the world if I don't find an answer. As for the games refusing to run, I get a signal but I get a black screen or in the case of Romancing Saga 2, I only get a frozen screen with the Square Soft logo.

Thank you very much for reading this and more if you can help,

-Edit- I cleaned the carts and the pin connectors in the consoles, but no dice.

my super famicom works find on my regular american ntsc tv.  Although I use rgb/s-video so I don't need to worry about which tv channel I'm using.  Are you sure the system is working?

Seems like your Super Famicom is defective. If you have the means to open it up, try taking it apart, remove the cartridge connector from the motherboard (it can be detached with your bare hands after removing two screws and the RF shielding), use some compressed air to blow any kind of foreign material from it, in short do your best to clean it up (or better yet, scavenge that same part from a known working SNES) and reinstall it on the SFC motherboard. Don't forget to clean up the connector pins on the motherboard too.
