The very recently ended auction of the game's rare Final Version had me wondering...am I the only who thought the sidescrolling stages were way more fun than the faux-3D shooting bits? The former were omitted in the Final Version since apparently nobody liked those and Bandai decided to do something about it.

Maybe I'm just weird that way.

It was fun following the auction though. I was keeping an eye on it just in case nobody else noticed it and the price stayed low, but it got to $406 pretty quickly and then, with just two seconds left on the clock, somebody struck with the equivalent of Thor's hammer and pushed the price to $1,025.01.

I don't get that myself. The side-scrolling sections are quite a lot like Thexder in my opinion (which is a good game) and the "Final Version" just seems like a stripped-down version of the original. If you ask me, the original version is definitely better. :octorok:

Yeah, there's a heavy Thexder vibe to those sections. Except I think Hot Scramble works better there, I always felt Thexder's (or at least the Famicom version's) controls are a bit clunky and the weapon doesn't feel like a helpless peashooter in Hot Scramble.

Plus Hot Scramble has a different sprite for facing left or right in robot form. That's always very cool to see in old games.
