Hi.  Sorry to make this my first post.  I have an otherwise reliable top-loader US NES, and recently was given a 60-72 pin converter and Famicom cart-guts to test.   Oddly, this one was found by my friend  in a junked NES, and the Famicom cart features no casing, leaving us unsure what game it could be.

When I attempt to use it and turn the system on, I get the black screen that usually indicates no game or an inaccurate connection.   The card, despite not being in a case, looks to be in great shape, so I don't think it's the problem.

Are there any other ways, aside from using another Famicom cart (which is not an option at the moment) to tell if  it is likely the converter is busted?

Are you sure you are inserting the famicom cartridge from the right side?
I am back everyone :)

...Well, I thought I'd checked both ways, but I flipped it again and it started to work.

So, in short, I am an idiot.

...

and it turns out my friend now owns a copy of Mario 8:  Dude has a Hammer.  Fun bootleg game

Glad you figured out.
