Couldn't find a tutorial or any info on how-to, but references on it not being particularly difficult to modify different brands of quick disks so that the FDS would read them. In some pictures, it looks as simple as strapping a rectangle of wire to the end of the disk, but part of me worries about damaging the system using a piece of metal like that that could come loose :s

Also should probably ask, is any brand of quick disk good to use?

question - why do you want to do this when you can buy used official FDS disks for next to nothing (even new sealed copies, just got 10 copies of Tennis for .89 cents each, sole purpose is to copy)  and have them re-written?

The cheapest I've been able to find actual disks is about £5, but found someone selling off his stock of quick disks at £10 for a box of ten.

you must not browse ebay then. Hit-Japan frequently auctions off a ton of new Disks each week and the stuff like Mahjong, Tennis, Golf, etc never goes past $3.00 usd, usually stay in the 1.50 usd or less range.

Honestly its going to be a major pain in the ass trying to get modified quick disks to work correctly every time.

A German eBay seller has them individually for around $5: http://www.ebay.com/itm/250648100746#ht_500wt_1127

Hm, thought it might be. Thanks for the tip on hit-japan, may just buy some disks from there instead; slightly more expensive than the quick disks but worth it to avoid the hassle of trying to get them working.

Just leaves finding a PC old enough that FDSloadr will work with, haha. On that note, does anyone know just how old it'd need to be? Remember seeing someone mention that any faster than about 600mhz would be too fast, but was that as slight exaggeration, or will it really need to be that slow?

You really only need to worry about the speed when using FDSloadr to dump a disk. To use it as an emulator or to rewrite disks, it really doesn't matter. Just make sure it has a parallel port.

Ah right, excellent :D Cheers for the help everyone!
