What's the best way to run a mini-arcade tommorow.

So tommorow is the Fall Festival in my home town, where I also happen to work in one of the local stores. I thought it might be fun for the kiddies to set up my NES and run a mini-arcade while I work. I was thinking $1 per play and you play till you get a game over. Now this is your stereotypical American small town so while the community will be busy I'm not expecting a MASSIVE amount of people. Any suggestions?

Epic_Lotus

Just curious, but what games were you planning to showcase?  Some of the actual arcade ports could go over really well even with the adults.

$1 might be a little steep for arcade-style play. Depending on the games and the skill level of the target demographic timed play could be a better option. A well rounded library of games should attract the most people.

Games:

Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3
Contra (I would probably allow 3 continues on this since it is such a hard game)
Excitebike
Galaga
Joust
Balloon Fight
Mario Bros.
Ninja Gaiden
Batman
Bionic Commando
Star Wars.

How much do you think is reasonable for timed play? I don't want anything like 30 minutes because their is going to be turn around. While nobody is playing I was planning on using SMB or Galaga to demo the unit.

Epic_Lotus

Probably a bit late for me to reply again, but I'd say just make it either $0.50 a play for either 5 minutes or one full game (whichever comes first).

ulera

Not to late. I'm just setting up :)

If it goes over well I'll do it again next year.

Getting whatever arcade ports you have for it might be a good idea. ;)

So right as we start to get busy after the parade this truck pulls up...

This means war

Epic_Lotus

Whoa.  That's some serious business there   :o  I've heard of these kinds of trucks, but never seen one outside of a big city.  Any idea who runs it?

ulera

Dunno. Needless to say me and a school buddy played contra and that was the only use the Nes got. 72 pin connector got bent out of shape so that was the end of that.

Ulera... Where did you take that picture? Because I saw that truck outside of a bank at some little party or something yesterday.

ulera

Local community fall festival.  Not really a party per se.

I mean what state (if you are in America)? It wouldn't happen to be West Virginia, would it?
