Does Anyone Know A Good NES Controler For My Retron 3?

I've got a Retron 3 that has Nintendo NES plugs, but the 3rd party NES controllers that are supposed to work for any NES console or clone don't work on it. Does anyone know of any companies that have NES style controllers that WOULD work on a Retron 3? My 80's Quick Shot is good for now, but it's a joystick, not a controller. I need a site that takes PayPal that sells NES style controllers for my Retron. I want a plus pad, A and B buttons, Start and Select buttons, and an NES plug. While eBay is preferred, anything that sells one for under $50, including shipping, is fine.

It's probably got the same port but different pin-out so you may only be able to use original Retron controllers. :/

The Retron controllers are crap! They're wireless, which is good. They work on the NES, Super NES, and Sega Genesis games, which is good. They don't, however, work unless you hold the controller in a certain way, usually tilted down, and they stop working if they go a millimeter out of their comfort zone, which is bad. To my knowledge, there AREN'T any Retron wired controllers. Found a fix on eBay, though. Apparently, Quick Shot made a plus pad controller for the NES. If the 80's PC/Commodore type controller works, the plus pad controller should, too!

What you described is a IR receiver... They are awful.

Uh, why not use OEM Nintendo Controllers? If you dislike the boxy shape of the NES-004, go on ebay and get a NES 101 'dogbone' controller. Make sure you buy one branded Nintendo though - in recent years, there have been a flair up of vastly inferior clones released by Retrobit.

It's possible his clone uses DB9 ports. In which case he'd need an adapter.

Or get a third-party Famicom controller.

Retron 3 seems to use NES controller ports though. If that's the case I also suggest using original NES controllers or original dogbone. Nothing beats Nintendo original controllers.

I own a retron3. it uses the same NES controller ports as an actual NES or AV Famicom. the 7 pin design.

Use OEM Nintendo controllers.

I've got 2 3rd party NES controllers that don't work. If I bought official Nintendo NES controllers, I'd run the risk of having FOUR controllers that don't work! My stand up PC style Quick Shot brand NES controller from the 80's works, so I'm thinking of getting a Quick Shot plus pad I found online. Should work, right? Problem is, I'd need an extension wire, because the Quick Shot one's too short. Is there a possibility that the Controller would work on my Retron 3, but the extension wire wouldn't? I'm not getting the extension wire yet, due to lack of funds, but the Quick Shot plus pad's my best bet, so I'm going to put money in the bank account I use for PayPal tomorrow. The problem with THAT is that for some strange reason, the wireless piece of crap plus pad that comes with the Retron switches the A and B buttons, so THAT might be the reason no other NES style controllers work on it! What I can't understand is that I have original SNES and Sega Genesis controllers plugged into the Retron, and they work PERFECTLY! Grumble, grumble...

Third party controllers are crap so it's not that surprising that they won't work. Satoshi Matrix confirms that the Retron 3 is designed for official controllers so I don't see why it shouldn't work if it's nothing wrong with the system. Besides NES controllers aren't very expensive (unlike NES games). Just make sure it's first-party controllers if you do decide to buy that.

Extension cables are just a bunch of wires with a male and female end, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.
