Famicom Light Gun defective?

I recently picked up an original Famicom Light Gun untested and as-is from a Nintendo Age member. It does seem to fire, but I couldn't seem to hit anything with it. Even with the gun right up against the screen, I only got one stray hit (against about 200 misses) in a round of Mad City. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

You are using a CRT TV, aren't you?

And your CRT needs to have refreshrate lower than 100Hz

Really? Man, I have to test that bigass CRT that I brought to my room recently!

Yeah, I'm still using a CRT TV. I should've mentioned that in the first post. As for its exact specs, I'm not sure. But I'm fairly sure it's not a TV issue, as all of my other light guns work fine. (NES Zapper, FC Hyper Shot, SMS Light Phaser, SNES Super Scope, Genesis Justifier... I love light guns!)

I was a bit dissapointed when realized that my bigass LG CRT was too newschool to handle the zapper. So if I feel like hunting ducks I use an old 14' TV for this.

Maybe you could post the TVs model number, nerdy.

Mad City works on my PAL TV (all in black and white though) but not Duck Hunt for some reason.
