Hello all
I have several FDS units that are completely dead. No power on with batteries or power supply. Opened them up, checked for visible damage (found none), changed the belts, still dead as the dodo. Before I start picking at it with my multimeter and digging around for schematics, I was wondering if anyone knows what common issue could cause this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a problem with the RAM Adapter. Check that for problems.
Can't find the FDSLoadr PC program? Get it here. It took me way too long to find.

Well first, do the RAM Adapter boot at all with or without a disk drive?
Do you have any working drives as well that works with the same RAM Adapter?

It might also be bad batteries or a bad power supply.

I have this same problem that just cropped up with my main fds. Earlier, it was working with my av fami, but not my fami, now it's working in neither. My ram adapter works with the FDS stick, so it's functional, but the disk drive never fires up. No led light, no movement, nada. I'm sorta stumped. I cleaned all connections, tried multiple power adapters (tested working and even the 6 c batteries (tested on the multimeter to assure they were good). Every time, the fami detects the ram adapter, It says set disk, and the red led never lights up on the FDS. I'm sorta stumped.

Okay super bizarre, after sitting unused for a bit, I got ahold of another ram adapter so I tried that. My disk drive worked fine then.

So then I thought, what the heck, and tried the original ram adapter. The disk drive is still working! So, good news is everything is working for me. Bad news is I have no idea why it stopped working initially.
