I live in an apartment and i don't get sun at all at my window.
I used hydrogen peroxide 10% without anything else.
I have a a couple of SFC cart really yellowed.
From the front part of the case the yellow was completely removed. The color is now light grey, like it should be.
On the back, there's still some yellow on the spine, but it's not very visible. Plus now the back it,s not grey, it's white. The same happens with pal snes carts.

SNES plate with the writing "super nintendo"  and  the plate that goes over the controller ports: excellent result, no faddind/discoloration on the text

Back part of the gameboy case: it's whiter then it should be.

Now I have a top part of a pc engine console. It's not ready yet, but it seems very promissing.

I think the sun it's very important. In my case, the plastic was in hydrogen peroxide from 1 day to 5 days.

I did a PC Engine with a few yellow splotches on it and sat in 3% peroxide on the balcony for about 6 hours and it became nice and pretty again! The plastic used on this machine seems to clean way faster than the Super Famicom, which I did 5 consoles of. These consume lots of time(but still work), but I have yet to get my hands on some 10% peroxide. In Canada, I think you can get this stuff online at Sally Beauty Supply or something? I believe its $7-$10 for a liter,  and the shipping is reasonable too.

Next time I do a batch, I should try the 10% and test this method on a Super Famicom and Famicom and share the results. I haven't been able to whiten a Famicom that much at all when I tried a 'french-vanilla' colored console. I also tried 3 SNES mouses and got a splotchy effect because of the round shape of the mouse plastic casing. The rounded area probably deflects light or doesn't get even lighting when being exposed to sunlight.

Do you have sun on your balcony?
The pc engine top case turned out excellent. Now I have the bottom part from yesterday and it's starting to turn white.
In USA i've seen 1 litre of foam 12% for 2.99usd, on ebay uk it's about 4 pounds. But if you know someone working in a hospital you can get 10% get for free :)

Hello guys
I have a question that is related to retro-brightening.
Does anybody have any idea what kind of plastic exactly is the top white part of Famicom? Exact composition? Or at least a name of that plastic compound? Is that a standard PVC or is it something completely different?

Trying to figure out the best brightening process, but that starts with the understanding of the material that is being brightened.

Thanks !
