Hi there

Does anybody have any experience with the TinyNES at all? I think it looks like a nice little "clone" system but it feels a bit overpriced

It is, however, open source and all info is on GitHub

I wondered has anyone built one of these things from scratch? Or had one made up by the likes of PCBway or a fabrication place?

If not, is anyone aware of a similar small clone style console that uses original chips or anything like that which isn't crazy expensive?

I believe Linus Tech Tips showed this thing off?

As far as the "production run" goes, it's fine, even if tad pricy.

Building one on your own, though, realistically (if you're not going for clone chips) would probably mean butchering an existing working (or easily fixable) NES or Famicom console for the PPU/CPU. That, I think, would be a bit of a travesty. Having seen the video output footage shown by LTT, I don't believe it is significantly cleaner than a real NES to be a real upside.

I hadn't seen the Linus video but have now

I wondered if anybody had any personal experience with them as I'm intrigued by the whole building one myself and having the parts available on GitHub to get made I though was quite cool.

The idea of having a "cheap" clone system so my "good" Famicom doesn't have to take loads of excessive use given it's 40 years old and won't live forever is also in my thinking.
