Weird television problems.

Hello guys, I've been having this problem with my television lately.  Massive color burn.



If the same color stays on my screen for 20 seconds or more, these colored blobs form and get thicker by the minute. This is unbelievably annoying. Does anybody know any remedies to this problem?

Are they there permanently? Are there powerful magnets nearby, e.g. large speakers. It sounds like there are unwanted magnetic fields occupying sections of your telly. To eliminate them, assuming that this is your problem, simply use a deguassing wand and/or move any large magnets/magnetic devices away from the telly. Only speakers are the ones attached to the TV. Nothing magnetic near by.

This phenomenon is called "Blooming" and it's caused by localized heating of the shadow mask and loss of convergence due to its sudden thermal expansion. This usually happens with badly designed TVs when you set the brightness and/or contrast way too high. If this didn't happen before and started occurring all of a sudden, I'd say that the automatic brightness limiter circuit inside the TV failed in some way or another.

Try lowering your brightness/contrast settings, this should reduce or eliminate the issue altogether.

I found that my contrast was cranked to the maximum. I set it to equal zero, but the picture is very dark. Increasing brightness washes out the picture even more...  It works though, there's no spots forming. Looks like I have a craptastic television.
