WOW...my friend at work told me about this being released and I was in shock! I immediately downloaded it when I got home from work. At first, I was rather reluctant as to how the control features would work for this game. After playing it for a little while, it became very clear that it wasn't all that bad. I was quite pleased to say the least! Naturally, with this being the first version, there are a few minor issues with the game as far as load times and delays are concerned. I'm confidant that the small issues will be fixed with future updates.

If any of you have ever played this on the PlayStation Portable, it's pretty much identical except for the control features...obviously. The graphics are resilient and the music is astounding. One of the great features about the iPhone and iTouch is that you can take screenshots by simply clicking 2 buttons; the home key and the sleep/ wake button. Using that feature, I have already captured well over 100 screenshots from Final Fantasy, not to mention...tons more from other apps too.

Well, on with the introduction. Following the introduction is 30 screenshots from my personal collection. My starting party is one of the most common and consists of a Fighter (Me), Black Belt (Ninjatiamat), White Mage (count100), and a Black Mage (sabby). Eventually, I'll make more parties and name them after more of our members here.

If anyone has any specific questions related to this application, feel free to let me know.

Introduction:
Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.

Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.

This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

Provided you have the right hardware (a DS, PSP, etc) :P
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

So I gotta carry all that crap around PLUS my iPhone?  :-\

Rogles

YES YOU DO.

Well, if you've got the money for an iphone and an AT&T plan, I'm sure you can just spare the 9 bucks. :P

Yes indeed :) You have to jailbreak it though and you can only do it on "older" models like the 8GB and a few of the older batch 16GB models. My friend has one that he jailbroke and its pretty sweet!

FamicomFreak

ah crap really? I have a 3G 32gb model? Any jailbreak for that one?

The PSP remake is the definitive version of Final Fantasy 1. If the iphone version is a port, then it too should be excellent. Considering the PSP version was sold for $20, $8.99 isn't too bad.

The PSP remake rocks. If you dont have a PSP and only have an apple phone, then by all means, get it.

FamicomRetroGamer

iPhone can handle emulators, but playing without a real keypad kills me, I just can't enjoy a game without a physical buttons, virtuals aren't good enough.

Yes, I've tried many times on a iPhone 2G (and 3G), this is my opinion.

Meh, I prefer the real systems than emulators.

satoshi_matrix

I agree. The PSP version is better and you should go with the PSP version. But like I said, happen it be that you only have an iphone and no PSP, get it for the iphone because the Final Fantasy remake is too good to pass up.

FamicomRetroGamer

NintendoNerd, PSP-k's are a bit big but if you buy all in digital format you'll be fine with PSP go, it's the smallest model of all, and it has 16 GB internal.

I'm happy having a PSP-2000 even tho I don't use it any more, lol. I hacked it and installed 5.00 M33-6/5.50 GEN-D3 but got bored, Retro is better.

FamicomFreak

on the go I would take RPGs with itouch you know, they only require you to do certain actions at your own pace. Then again, for those who want to play action games and such, go with the PSP....
