This is kinda f* up, from a moment to another LCD's and Plasma's are the big thing and next up come 3D TV, why can't companies just make a TV that does everything?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/apr/20/samsung-3d-tv-advert <- 8 million GBP for a 3D TV. Holy shiz!

CRT's ftw! ;D

I've been tempted to own a Blu-Ray player but doesn't seem good enough for me, only 50 GB's and some day that'll be beaten by another company.

Here's why I don't care about "the next thing"
1. It'll be outdated soon enough
2. you don't enough time to enjoy it before there's "the next big thing".

It's called planned obsolescence. It's a business model developed in the 80s in which every 18 months(originally) a new product comes out making what came out 18 months ago obsolete. It sucks for consumers, but is a brilliant business model.

It's bullshit and I don't buy into it.

My understanding is that planned obsolescence was being practiced decades before the '80s. Could you please cite from where you got this and the 18-month figure?

Wow you're right the concept dated to the 1930s, I had no idea. Fascinating article HERE. What I was referring to was when the concept was applied to the computer/tech industry in the very early 80s. I read a book on it for an economics class, but I can't seem to find it now. I'll let you know when I do.

I don't get caught up in that. I'm rockin' the pentium 3 and crt tv.

I do have a flatscreen-widescreen for my computer, but that's because my old crt died.

I tend to use old stuff until it breaks or becomes so outdated that it no longer functions.
Hey people, TRG still exists. Come join the meh-ness.

I use things until they just stop working, and until they refuse to work after I repair them.

I have no sense of obsoleteness I'd play my SNES over my Wii and I don't care how new my TV is I'd rather own a TV that works than a expensive new plasma TV!
