Hi,
I'm going to Hurghada in Egypt for one week. I know they got tons of Famicom carts (pirates) and Famiclone systems for sale in Cairo (seen videos on Youtube), but does anyone know if stuff like that can be found in Hurghada or any nearby places? Cairo is too far to travel to from there.

That's a pretty random place to check. Maybe you'd have more luck on an arabic language forum? I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to find it. Most of the time in any town with an open air market, I've found just asking the local riff-raff (with a dollar or a cigarette or something, though often times vendors have "deals" with those types of people that they'll pay them to direct business their way) is likely to get you guided to the right vendor. Anyway, good luck. I hope you find something exciting and rare!

Hello and thanks for your replies.
Well, after one day in Hurghada I must say I am very disappointed about the lack of Famicom carts or even Famiclones. After asking at many places someone finally managed to offer me 4 carts, but that was all he had. Haven't even seen a console, even less any carts of any kind.

If anyone knows a store or someone in Hurghada or nearby who sells them, I am still awaiting your replies, I'll be here until thursday...

Kind regards,

By the way, those 4 I finally found weren't cheap... ;)

Hi,
Yes I can as soon as I get home (still in Egypt and writing these posts from internet cafe).
But I can say the carts I found were not anything special.

Here a good tip for ya,

- Go and search for an old Electronic shops withinn that area. They are the best source of info to ask around.

- Printout a larger A4 size picture of the Famicom console and games. Once they see it, they might remember.

- Or go to those shops selling PS3 or Wii console and ask if they do keep older games.
