This sounds pretty interesting. If you are able to get this to work, I want to buy an Famicom to NES adapter with two NES 7pin female ports.

So Gremlin, you said NES, but this would work with an original 3rd party famicom controller and a NES zapper as well, simply to extend the cable? I'm trying to figure out a way to do this without actually modding the twin famicom. I could just sacrifice 1 controller and splice, then? Or even use a NES zapper's cord (it has all the necessary wires?) + a regular famicom controller. I've soldered before, though I don't have much experience, though I've spliced wires so I think I would be able to do it.

Still, an adapter would be nice.

I don't think the FC controller port #2 is wired for the zapper to work, just the expansion port (DB15) is. It could be modded to work through it, but I would guess that the cable would need an extra wire or two. As is, it probably only has enough for the functions of controller #2 (D-pad, A, B, and mic). I'd have to review a schematic to know for certain.

@botulismo: If you want a NES Four Score modded to plug into the DB15 port on the side of the Twin or FC, I can make you one. It theoretically supports four players, but definitely works with the zapper and all controllers that work with the NES. I made one for myself and it's awesome. Pics are in this thread in an earlier post. PM me if you're interested and we can discuss the price.

OTOH, it'd be nice if Xious could give a status update on this and the trackball projects. :)

Thanks, ericj! This sounds like an excellent possibility. I private messaged you with several questions. Looking forward to a reply.
