Here's the thing about Yahoo Japan Auctions:

1. You can't search based on completed auctions the way you do on Ebay
2. However, you can view completed auctions if:
                 a. You have an account on Yahoo Japan
                 b. You kept the auction id for that auction (only way that I know of to pull up the completed auction)
                 c. It's only up for a temporary amount of time after completion (2 weeks? I forgot)

When I saw those 2 auctions, I thought oh cool... but not much else. I wasn't interested in buying either. I also didn't bother to keep track of the auction ids. I only keep track of ids for auctions that I'm interested in sniping or bidding at a later time.

If you believe me or not, it doesn't really matter to me. However, I did see that the final winning bids weren't all that high. I believe prior to that, the last documented auction sold for the equivalent of 5k USD. Also, one had a white sticker label that only had printed text and the other was just a blank cartridge. Both carts were plain white. Both auctions had pictures displaying the screens from the game.

Another Strider Famicom prototype popped up on YJ:

Some pics of the auction for posterity. Since the page won't be viewable after it expires.

What I wouldn't do to get my hands on both of those protos. I just hope that at some point, someone dumps them both. Playing them on an emulator or as repros would be better than never playing them at all, I say.

I'm with you there. I've been dying to play the prototype ever since I found out that it was never released in Japan.

Thanks. It's a great one, definitely in my top 5.

Dont hold your breath. There is only 1 confirmed copy, possibly 2 more but they are unconfirmed. All are in Japanese collectors hands and they have a tendency to NOT dump ROM files.  Hell, a Japanese collector had Bio Force Ape for YEARS, throughout all the internet hype, etc. Could have dumped that at anytime but he didnt, then it went to auction and Americans won it and it was online a week later. To buy the actual prototype your looknig at spending at least $5000 and as high up to $10,000.

I thought there was a strider prototype ROM out already? hmm...maybe not. Cool!

True, but a man can dream... a man can dream.

I've never seen it online, and as far as I know it was never dumped - but if it exists, I'd love to find it. So would quite a few other people I know.

Soooo, could one of our members in Japan browse some Japanese ROM sites or other pages to see if maybe this has been dumped?
