I read an article about this japanese only gamecube variant but couldn't find a lot of information and was hoping some people here could answer some questions:

1. How rare and expensive is it?

2. Can it play international dvds?

3. I here it has it's own special gameboy player, how rare/expensive is it?

4. How cheap are rgb/component cables for it?

famiac

1- loose 200$. Conplete & Boxed 400-500

2- no you have to mod it using a special super rare maintenance disc

3- ive seen the gameboy player go for 250.

4- i paid 100$ for my rgb cable. It has the same digital slot as the regular cube.

All of these answers can be found by using a search engine such as google. You should try it.

You can get them for $150 loose and $250 boxed & complete if you shop around. I think they're nice and all, love the bling, but they're kind of expensive for what they are and how limiting they are, i.e. it's a device that plays Japanese region DVD's and GC games - not that exciting when you stop and think about it.

The cheapest I've seen with my own eyes so far was 5800 yen for a loose one without remote control. And it was untested.
Good units fetch higher prices.

I think it's only a novelty for hardcore collectors.

I might consider paying that much. But no more.
