So, Gamestop is making a spin off store which will be to video games like the Disney Store is to Disney Movies....not a bad idea.....

makes sense from a business standpoint. even my local ma and pa game store sells kids size t-shirts, videogame related toys and action figures, and gaming themed beach or bath towels.

Obviously to me though, GameStop Kids is just as relevant as normal GameStop - not at all.

It sorta makes sense, but I can't see this being overly relevant in the long run.  I mean, how is this any better than your local Wal-mart or Target store that has both a games section and a kids section (not to mention better selection).  Unless they start scoring some amazing exclusives, this has "closed after the holidays" written all over it.

Even if they don't necessarily have "exclusive" toys, you'd be surprised at how popular a store like this would be among kids (assuming kids who are interested in video games are anything like I was a few years ago).  Pokemon/Mario anything would have instantly made this my favorite store.  Once our local Walmart stopped carrying Pokemon toys after Pokemon was done with it's first wave of popularity (after/during 2nd gen), I completely lost interest in the toy section.

Yeah, that worked out so well for Kay Bee Toys.  I just don't think people go to malls for toys anymore.  Even then, I don't quite get how this is going to work out in the long run.  I mean, stores like Toys 'R Us and what not have tons of room to stock the shelves, plus they back rooms for overstock.  GS Kids isn't going to have either option.  The logistics of this alone sound like a nightmare for the managers.

KB Toys was a great store.  I'm only old enough to know what it was through a department store (when it was a liquidation store), but that was the only place I ever went when my parents went into said department store.  That was where I found a CIB Earthbound for $60 and I will never forget it.

Thus my statement stands (kind of).
