I lol'd at the idea of a company making fun of their own game.  But it is pretty fun too

Nintendo should take up this idea and make the greatest game in the world....

Others here have mentioned some great games, but i'll recommend a little FDS gem that no one has mentioned yet..

Gall Force (by HAL)

As far as the others that people recommended: Salamander and GunNac are definites.

Paroidus Da on the Famicom is decent compared to other Famicom shooters, but it can't hold a candle to its bigger brothers.  The game is MUCH better on the Arcade and Super Famicom. Hell, even the PCE version is better..but the Famicom port is still better than the Gameboy version
