Interesting aesthetic discussion- I enjoy an aesthetic that splits the difference.  Lately been looking at and playing Splatterhouse: Wanpuku Graffiti ...nothing like it on the NES

Ah, yes, cute-but creepy. I feel Monster Party hit that aesthetic pretty well also.
