According to a Nintendo Rep it'll be possible to connect two GameCube adapters for the 8-Player Mode so that puts aside all the consumers who were wondering as to how the local multiplayer would work.

I don't believe that, seeing as how the GC adapter uses both USB ports on the Wii U. 8-player mode is going to use 4 controllers, and 4 3DS's.

Hm. Can't you use a USB hub?

Aren't there two ports on the back as well?

Is this pic from a Smash Tournament or something?

I just saw that pic making the rounds.

WiiU indeed has 4 USB ports in total.

Review copies are out and people are posting all kinds of videos and stuff, so if this isn't confirmed already, it probably will be as soon as reviewers get the gamecube controller adapter, and I think they have.

It's silly if the adapter's only going to be compatible with one game so it's really for the better that the community hacks it and makes it playable with Nintendont.

Makes me wish my Wii U had Nintendont too (plays GameCube games without being emulated) but I decided I prefer to have my system updated & online over homebrew/piracy.

This all reminds me when I bought a Wii because of Brawl, only to now use the Wii as a Netflix console. :( So now I'd be buying a Wii U bundle with a GameCube adapter solely for playing Smash Bros. and nothing else? No thanks.

It's funny and sad at the same time. Nintendo has become such try-hards lately. Their recent efforts toward Smash Bros. is akin to a PR firm's damage control: Nintendo is pulling out all the stops, but it's all reactionary due to their lost revenue and Wii U's marketing failure. They should've been putting this kind of effort back when I bought Brawl. >:(

I'm still planning on getting the 3DS version, though.

You can also get Mario Kart 8, as well as Mario 3D World and Zelda HD. Also downloading NES Remix 1 + 2 as well as earthbound may be worth it to you. Although, if you were to choose between the WiiU and 3DS, the 3DS has more games obviously.  :)

NES Remix Collection has or is going to have a physical Wii U release for US/EU. 3DS definitely has it for pre-order but I wouldn't bother with the 3DS version at all.

I'm getting the NGC Adapter + Smash on November 28 so Smash = 5/5 and NGC Adapter 2/5 (I know I'll get hate for this because the Nin10yearolds on Amazon hate me for giving Nintendo stuff low scores).

You can still use that Wii for Project M! It's great! I advise every Smash fan to at least try it. It's really a huge improvement on Brawl. Though after getting accustomed to the 3DS version, I've grown to like it more.

Super pumped for my roommate (who owns a Wii U) to get Smash for Wii U in 10 DAYS! Woohoo!

Awww Yiss

If this becomes available to purchase via Amazon UK (for pre-order) I'm definitely getting one.

The Hori controllers are known to be of high quality so it'll be worth it.

L___E___T

Yeah especially as you can use it on Wii - no Amazon UK no problem, you can pre-order it plenty other places.

Can you post the source for that? I can't find a place to buy one.

That was just from a Hori announcement - you'll likely need to import from Japan, or at least get it from someone that is importing them.

It'll prob end up on Amazon JP, I think they also ship abroad...

Yeah, it'll probably be available on other places but if Amazon ends up having it for pre-order it's definitely going to sky rocket its sales, even the standard Mario Hori is already being a success so there's no doubt this'd sell like hotcakes.

The only thing listed here that I'm partly interested in is Mario Kart 8. I've been done with Zelda since Wind Waker and as far as Mario 3D World... I still haven't played New Super Mario Bros. :( I've been planning on getting a DSi for the longest time, but at this point I'm just going to skip straight to the 3DS.

By the way, what's Earthbound? Mother2? For the Wii U? ???
