Hmmm....never played Oscar. What is it? :)

My favorite SNES game is none other than Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Zelda 3 and Super Metroid come close. For a SNES game to beat Zelda and Metroid is no easy feat at all. It just goes to show how awesome Donkey Kong Country 2 is.

The Donkey Kong Country franchise.

I finally got a chance to play these recently...totally overrated in my opinion.  The only cool thing about them was the graphics.  The enemies had no decent intelligence, they were just placed in the right spots to screw you over.  I thought the overall gameplay was just terrible.

Now as for good games, definitely Mario Kart and F-Zero.  I'm not sure if it still holds up, but Rock n Roll racing was great for the time.

It's about this dude named Oscar, who is filming movies. You have to find the minature "Oscar's" (Which is the running joke of the whole game), and complete levels. There's SO many secrets to find and so many things to do. An absolute hidden gem.

Add Mega Man X to my list as well. :P

I thought the same thing, too.  But I didn't want to say anything. :P

I forgot about the port of Out of This World... I think the added music made it more tense.

Earthbound, without a doubt.

No, they are not overrated at all, especially Diddy's Kong Quest. That's what I thought at first when I only played the games a little bit from an emulator. But after purchasing new copies of Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2, I changed my mind completely. They are as good as the Mario games and they're even more charming in some ways because of the enhanced graphics. Saying that the only cool thing about them was the graphics is simply wrong. The music is some of the best compositions in the industry and the gameplay is outstanding, especially for Diddy's Kong Quest.

I selected Diddy's Kong Quest as the best game for the Super NES for a reason. The game is so perfect, so beautiful for a Super NES game, and the level designs so top-notch, the music composition so superb, that I give it my highest recommendation. Donkey Kong Country, when it first came out, was one of a kind. It lacked the extreme polish of the second game, but it's still excellent and very beautiful. The games are so highly rated for a reason, and it's not just the graphics. The gameplay is top-notch as well.

The music for Donkey Kong is beautiful.  Who was the composer? David Wise?  I didn't think he could be topped, but then came Graeme Norgate. :o

Still overrated game in my opinion.

You said it yourself. It's David Wise. There was another composer along with him in Donkey Kong Country, but in Diddy's Kong Quest, only David Wise was listed. Well, whoever did the composition should be applauded.

He should've done the music for Donkey Kong 64 as well, but I read somewhere that it was the same person who did the music for Banjo-Kazooie. :-\

Yea, the mining cart level on DKC had such excellent gameplay.  Dying repeatedly until you learn the exact moment to push a single button.  That's a lot of fun!!!

I don't really know why, but I like all of the Donkey Kong games on SNES except for Donkey Kong 3. It just doesn't match up to the first and second one...just too boring :-\
