I have a Yobo NeoFami that I got in Japan a year ago.  Here's what I think:

Pros:

  • It's really cheap.

  • It has very clean video output.

  • The controllers were definitely better than I expected.

Cons:

  • The sound is imperfect in some games.  For instance, the coins in Mario 3 sounded slightly different, and the melody in Contra is drowned out by the drums and bass.

  • It doesn't work with standard NES controllers.

  • Some games don't work.  Castlevania 3 has been noted, but I also have not been able to get Bionic Commando to work on it.

When I was in Japan, I was just looking for something cheap to play the Famicom carts I had picked up, and this did the job well.  I now use it more than my top loader NES due to the Yobo's much cleaner video.

Gao, keep in mind: this is the Yobo NEO Fami. There is a newer North American "USA" version that fixes many of the problems. The sound is the same, but you can use any real NES controller (as well as the supplied ones that are so-so in terms of pirate controllers) and yeah some games don't work properlly, though I've had no problem playing Bionic Commando on it at all. Maybe it doesnt work with the Famicom version? In addition to CVIII, I've found the Yobo doesn't like the Disk System RAM adaptor either. It works on seemingly a 50/50 basis.

Diego do you even own a NEX? I'm sorry if I sound rude, I'm not trying to be. Here's a more accorite rundown of the NEX:

Pros:
-Yes, it DOES play both 72pin NES and 60pin Famicom games
-It looks nice, like a modern but retro console at once.
-AV output
-The idea of a wireless controller is sweet.

Cons;

-Price. The thing costs as much as a last gen console does! There's no reason for a Famiclone to be nearly this expensive.
-Doesn't support real NES controllers.
-While not exactly a NOAC (apparently anyway) its still based on a cloned CPU, so its still got a lot of the sound and game compatibility issues that others have.
-Psudo sterio sound using two mono sound channels instead of one makes most games sound louder, tinnier and all said worse than on any real hardware or even that on other clones.
The connector pins are made of cheap and jagged metal. They grip your cartridges and I fear that with repeated use would damage the connector pins of your cartridges.

A left is the ORIGINAL Famicom and at the right is the clone.  This is the best Famicom Clone that i have seen.  Its all the same, the diference is on the decals, in inglish and the big ren in front   (Computer Game)

MaxXimus

The appearance of the console doesnt make it much better. For best compadibility and sound, get a famicom. Im glad I made the switch! I still like to collect them though ;]

What is the best Famicom clone?

The NES ;D.

satoshi_matrix

well how about the AV Famicom? It's essentually a copied Famicom, and it lacks the flaws of both the original and those that came with the NES.

My friend if u are talking about the TEA 4 TWO FC/AV, that is not a clone.  It is a company that is dedicated to upgrade the ORIGINAL Famicom to AV and replaced the front lable with their own.  U cand see it on http://www.tea4two.jp , the problem is that the page is in JP but u can translate the page with Google. I have been looking for 1  for long time>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Assembled with a stunning high-qualtiy composite audio video output (AV) by the CODING FACTORY "TEA 4 TWO" from Japan. You can see that they replaced the Nintendo branding logo "FAMILY COMPUTER" with "TEA4TWO FC/AV", because of the copyright. TEA4TWO assembled only an AV inside the real Nintendo Famicom. So what you get is the original Famicom, not a clone!
Later Nintendo released a 2nd Famicom with AV but looked much more different than the first one, but had removable controllers like the NES. Here's a picture of the 2nd Nintendo Famicom AV:
