You can use eBay to check - type the name of the game, click US only, sold listings - that will show you what it's selling for there.  Minus 15 or 20% for forum prices.

How much should I be looking to pay for a near mint & complete Abadox?

By near mint, I mean that the box can have some shelf-wear but no rips, stains or creases outside of maybe the box ends.

By complete I just mean cart + box + manual + tray -- other papers are not a concern.

In Japan?
Outside of Japan?

I feel like $150 must be too high as the only one sold on ebay went for under $40 including shipping from Japan.  It was in a little worse condition than I would want, but there are 2 buy it nows that have been up for awhile that are under $150 and in the condition I am after.

I was more just wondering what I would have to pay from a user on this forum for example.  Or if I found it in Akihabara at a shop.

Okay because the ones I checked on ebay I wouldn't them "near mint"..
Near mint isn't creases or tear, etc....  Like these ones have.

oh, also, I did a search in Japan and it is a bit rare in Japan. Probably more common in the NES version. It is probably more expensive in Japan than on ebay.

Well thanks for your info.  I feel like around $100 shipping is the price I would be willing to pay for the condition I am after.  The ones on eBay are not actually selling for the price they are listed for so I don't consider it market price.

Has the price for a loose Magical Doropie ever been at $200?!?  I see several on ebay for around $70 or whatever, with CIB copies being $200 or more, give or take.

The reason I ask is because a seller on another website is selling a loose Doropie at $200, and when I said that his prices seemed crazy, he told me that at the time that is what it cost in Japan for the game, so that is why it is priced at that cost.  I thought Doropie's price was lower a few years back, so to me it seems as though he made a bad purchase (i.e. paid too much, got screwed himself) and then just trying to recoup his money on the game, but that is why I am curious and asking here.  Was Doropie indeed a $200 game at one point, loose?!?

I've never l known it o be - I got it for way less than that, from Senseiman here ($50 I believe).

I hate that 'it's what I paid for it' logic - if that was true then used cars would hardly depreciate Smiley

Well I hate that sort of logic as well, and I also hate when people price gouge for the popular games.  It is one thing if it is the going rate, but that price just seemed stupid high imo.  Here is the message the guy had posted to me (he is also a member on here, though he primarily tries selling his games on Nintendo Age, for some unknown reason)

"At the time.. I could not get a copy in Japan for less than 18000 yen.   The most important part and piece of information  in my thread is "prices are negotiable" and you can ask questions.. If i could find cheaper, i will supply it cheaper.  "

I guess there are things that annoy me about sellers like the one I had mentioned earlier with the Doropie, and they are linked together.

#1 - I sometimes feel that guys like that are in it just for the money, whether it is true or not.  And it is quite apparent to me, as this sort of seller rarely posts messages on places like Famicom World, prices items (much) higher than the norm, and then tries to justify his / her actions to boot.  Why not try to sell your items on a Famicom website as well, where they might have a better chance of selling (i.e. there is more demand)?  Well, the most obvious reason is because we are too familiar with the prices of Famicom games, and are less likely to purchase a game like that for $200, when we can get it for $60, whereas a rookie might go into battle with guns blazing, and purchase first, ask questions later.

+1

But what I dislike more are lowball offers along the lines of I want this and I am only paying this.

Agreed, I don't like those guys either.  I tell people the best way to get deals on their games and build a collection is through friendships and making fair offers.

I don't mind lower offers - it's when they are stupidly low I get a bit irritated.

You can't hate someone for trying to get a bargain, I for one pretty much always try and get a bargain and if I can't I'll often leave it.  I don't think that's a sin I just can't ignore good deals.

I can happily wait out til one turns up for auction somewhere otherwise and get it at market rate.  It's the prospect of  a good deal that makes me jump off my seat and act.

Not C&E own cartridge shell and overall poor condition. It all depends of the buyers at this point.

Hello,
I made a thread a while back on assemblergames: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?51704-Famicom-Rarity-NHK-Space-School

I may be interested in selling this, so I'm asking: there's a market for stuff like this?
