Best Final Fantasy Game

I have a soft-spot for FF1.  Playing through it is like a short ritual.  I guess it's kinda like how people still play Dragon Quest/Warrior 1, even though it's not very good anymore.

Yeah personally I liked the Dragon Warrior series but never got too much into Dragon Warrior 1.

I love Final Fantasy II for the SNES

My favorite by far is Final Fantasy 6/VI (III in the US). Just to prevent a fanboy "BUT FFVII IS BETTER!!!1111 arugment, here's my thoughts on VI and VII:

VI is not the most drawn out game, but it's appeal is the highest amongst all the FF games as far as I'm concerned. FFVII is such a totally different game I don't even feel as if its fair to compare the two, since the only things they share in common is the francise name and a few minor details. They play differently, the character devolopment is vastly different, the stories are nothing alike and the appeal of each is different. I think Square should've pulled a Capcom move and simply create a new series title for the 3D games to seperate them from the 2D - sorta like Megaman (Classic) and Megaman X.

so in closing (my opinion)

best 2D Final Fantasy: VI
best 3D Final Fanrasy: VII
best overall: VI

Final Fantasy XII by far. It is the only Final Fantasy game that's actually caught my attention, and BOY was it awesome! I regard it as one of the best games ever created.

FF3 for the Famicom really touched my heart because it was just so damn good. I even got the remake but man I wonder if it was released late in the NES lifetime how much would it be worth...probably more than Dragon Warrior IV.
