 Hi all,

I've co-authored a book all about the Famicom Disk System with Kurt Kalata of Hardcore Gaming 101 fame. If you're interested in this lesser known side (at least to English speakers) of Nintendo's disk system please check it out, I think you'll enjoy it.

Better preview of the Book is here - http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/fdsbook/fdsbook.htm

Thanks,

Am glad I ordered a copy yesterday. The Amazon link now says it's out of print/limited availability. I would assume that more will be printed?

I was thinking that this would have made a nice Christmas present to ask for, from my parents or brother or someone.  I would certainly hope that since the thing was just released, it wouldn't go out of print permantely, but if so, I would be highly disappointed with those involved, as the book looks truly amazing.

Kurt says there should be more available later today, just FYI.

Order placed, being sent to my American address.  With a little luck it will arrive before my brother leaves to come to Taiwan, and then I can be reading this book by Sunday night!!!

I'm not terribly interested in FDS as hardware, but the book does look nice and it goes nicely with my other Famicom-related books. Ordered.

Read through it over the weekend. Very good quality overall, I did spot a few grammatical errors but nothing major. I learned of a few more games that I probably would acquire had they been released on a cartridge. Which brings the total to maybe eight now. It didn't change my opinion over the hardware in general, so I won't be scouring eBay for possibly working units and disks that may or may not have the advertised game inside...

Yeah I caught some more after the fact too heh, seems like everytime I read through it I'll find others!

Glad you enjoyed it though!

Am about halfway through. Great stuff. I was actually able to catch that one of my games that I paid full price for was actually a reproduction sadly.  Both the label & cover were ever so slightly darker than what was shown in-book which got me suspicious.

Ending up buying a duplicate copy, and I'm now 100% sure the first one is a fake. I just wish I hadn't hit the Buy-It-Now option with the repro and saved myself some $$$.  :-[

I bought this and it is great! It made me want to play a bunch of Adventure games I can't read  :-\

Does anyone know if there is an English translation of "Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Koukeisha"? I see the sequel got a fan translated Super Famicom version.

P

Sadly the Super Famicom version of part 2 is the only English fan translation there is of these great games as far as I know. Part 2 takes place before the first game though and can be played without having played the first game without problem. I highly recommend it.
