hey guys n gals,
i just want to point those of you interested in this sort of thing to Pacnsacdave,
and the impressive amount of Chinese originals he translated into English for all of us to enjoy.
he not only offers full repro carts of these translations,
but better yet, free downloads of the roms to play in emulators or flashcards.
i am not endorsed by Pacnsacdave in any way, but i am very happy with the work he has done sofar,
especially on some of my favourite Waixing games, (LIn Ze Xu Jin Yan, Zelda Link to the past, Pinocchio's recovery, etc.)
so if you enjoy Chinese unlicensed originals, and this is your cup of tea, head on down to http://pacnsacdave.weebly.com/
and if you feel so inclined, donate whatever you can spare so he can keep on translating these gems.

I found his ALttP translation to be really weird as all the dialogue has these weirdly large spaces in it as evidenced here: https://youtu.be/i6VKyfVcVvk?t=126. He also uses the original game's script for his translations, which isn't always exactly the best choice. For instance he talks about "holding A+B and letting go to release the power" which isn't true, to use the spin attack you hit A+B and as long as you hold them, you use the attack. My biggest critique is that his repros are pretty expensive.

Nitpicking aside, I'm glad that someone has taken the time to do this, and full game translations to boot. He supplies full roms on his website for free so you can play them at no cost.

About the spacing of text,
As i understand it, this is a common problem when translating games, as there is a set space and character size alotted fir text, and waixing makes use of especially weird text/character sizes.

I have no idea about the controls and how they are explained in the game, as i have notplayed much of it.
His repro's might be expensive, the downloads however are free.
And i am just over the moon over the fact that i can finally play Resident Evil/Biohazard and Lin Ze No Smoking and understand what it is all about.
;D

a little update that justifies a necro-post:

Pacnsacdave has done some new translations since i posted this originally,
most notably Nanjing's World of Warcraft, Tomb Raider, and some Waixing games as well.
he's currently working on Diablo II, and he is doing about 4 a year at the moment, which i think is awesome.
there is a Patreon if you want to support his work, with different tiers with all kinds of rewards,
if you want to check it out, here's a link:

i am not endorsed by David in anyway, i just really dig what he is doing,
and i am working on a big regular giveaway for Patreon supporters, with things like unlicensed games, controllers, and consoles will be thrown into a raffle, and all Patreon supporters will automatically take part in these raffles 3 or 4 times a year.
details on this will be posted here and on the Pacnsacdave Hacks FB group.
