Is the H much better than the G?  Or you were just after a G specifically?

I wasn't after any of them specially, I was just recently informed by MaarioS that the AV Famicoms have usually the latest revision, H, that should have the best video output.
Presumably.
Haven't looked into that in detail, I also have a standard Famicom (GPM-02) with G revision chips.
The difference between revisons can be in anything, from being able to display more advanced graphics to a better hadware chip layout which can lead to more clear video output.

For my needs (and 99% of users too) the only reason to have anything newer than the earliest revisions, is that the earliest revisions had problems displaying a few games (http://offgao.blog112.fc2.com/blog-entry-24.html) or a few sounds (https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=13805.0).

Some details about differences (revisions G and H are listed as "no known differences"):

I was just hunting for a AV Famicom for a long time for a reasonable price, and this one cost me 50€ incl shipping at eBay. So VERY happy ;D
...and the Hello Kitty is just hilarious :) :) :)

Congratulations! I guess if you are getting a AV Famicom you might as well get a later, hopefully improved, one.
My only problems with the AV Famicom is the total lack of microphone circuitry.

Yeah only the OAM data readability, looped noise and the early broken Famicoms are really of concerns to users. The OAM bugs are only concern for the programmer.
