Sold out.

MasterDisk

Are you making a straight copy of the Kazzo or a new devices from scratch? The Kazzo has many flaws that makes dumping some unlicensed cartridges very complicated.

Making PCB 2.0.

How does it have an issue? It needs scripts to dump the carts. The dumper only listens to what you program. ;)

There's no easier way as of today to dump NES/FC carts afaik.

Besides, it's only for the fun. :D

MasterDisk

Correct, but the scripts only gives instructions on the address to write & read from, not the timing for those write & reads which is completly off compared to a real NES. Some cartridge expecting precise timing & clocking are completly undumpable with a kazzo.

Then make something better for unlicensed games. ;)

Kazzo and CopyNES are pretty much the only choice I know of to dump the cartridges besides desoldering the ICs and guessing the correct mapper.

I didn't make a Kazzo with the intention to dump unlicensed games anyway.

Thanks for stopping in again!  :star:

Paul is working on a new cartridge dumper/programmer (possibly compatible with the kazzo). It's still beta and is missing lots of features. No idea if it will let you control the access timing though.

MasterDisk

It has the exact same flaws as the original Kazzo.

P

Well it's backwards-compatible with kazzo and not complete yet. I don't see why adding access timing control to the firmware would be a problem, unless the hardware is too slow for these chips. If a 21.47727 MHz crystal is needed it might not be so easy though.

xIceMan

So, which game(s) would actually need it anyway? I haven't ran across any yet, licensed or unlicensed.

MasterDisk

Any mapper 45, 176, 178 cartridge in fact. Some of those news Waixing, Nantong, Nanjing cartridges also won't dump in it.

Never had such mappers but I don't see why they wouldn't work though.

Either way, I found this and it seems to be more stable. Also uses modified firmware.
