I've got 3 HVC-CPU-07's and 2 have low serial numbers with PPU E's and both have metal heat sinks. The other one with a high serial number doesn't. I'm surprised Nintendo thought this was necessary. Was this just a precaution or do E revision run hotter than G and H revisions?

Not that I mind having a slightly beefed up cooling situation on my main Famicom. Maybe I should take a heat spreaders from one of my other Famicom and put it on the 2A03 CPU too. Never seen a stock CPU with any kind of heat sink.

The early PPUs do get considerably more toasty than later ones.

Another thing they sometimes did was to put this rubber cover around the PPU. No idea what THAT's about.

I guess 2 PPU's of the same revision have difference in heat? The E revision on my NES doesn't have any heat sinks.

I had a CPU-06 that had that rubber thing around its PPU. I think they did that mostly on consoles made before the recall.
