Yeah, it's pretty neat. I'm with you on that, such a great show growing up. My cousin had some tapes he had recorded with a good amount of episodes. I've been meaning to track down a cartridge myself. I had a chance to grab one off eBay a few years ago, but I forgot to bid before the auction ended!
I'll probably die surrounded by plastic crap.

Games I beat today:

Mickey Mouse III: Yume Fuusen - Beat without dying. I love this game too much for my own good.
Banana Ouji No Daibouken - Getting past the quiz parts are a nightmarish guessing game if you can't read Japanese, but it's pretty easy otherwise. Wonderful game.
Gimmick - I still think it's overrated and the epitome of "flash over substance"... yet for some reason I still come back to replay it every couple weeks. Ugh. Gimmick.

Just played through one of my favorites, Choujin Sentai Jetman, and beat it on the Very Hard difficulty setting only accessible via a simple code. This setting doesn't change much about the game... in fact, everything is pretty much identical besides the fact that you are only able to take just one hit before perishing, as opposed to the long health bar you get in the normal setting. This, plus the fact that there are no health powerups whatsoever in the Very Hard mode, so it truly becomes a no-mistakes, one-hit-kill game. At first I thought that this was a rather lazy way to add challenge to the game, as the enemy placement is exactly the same as Normal mode. However, as I played through it I grew to love this mode of the game, and I feel like one-hit-deaths are truly the way this game was meant to be played. Some of the enemy/trap placement in this game is very clever and tricky, but during the normal game you wouldn't even notice, because your health bar means that taking damage during stages practically doesn't matter. Oh, and for the final boss - I'd suggest using the rope-a-dope method.

Long live Jetman.

What ability did he have when he fought Whispy Woods? Or was he just normal Kirby? Either way that's impressive for a youngster's first try.

He was needle Kirby.

i have finished Megaman 2 this morning  ;D of course with help of some game genie codes  :-[

jack of all trades

Yesterday I've completed my first Famicom game: Rockman 2
I must say that can be quite a challenge if you're only used to Megaman 2 on "normal" mode... :D

Did a few no-death runs today:

Don Doko Don 2
Pizza Pop
Rockman 6
Ducktales 2 (Difficult mode, didn't get the best ending. Still too lazy to find out where the other map pieces are)

It's worth pointing out that I didn't know the Energy Balancer was even in Rockman 6 until a few days ago when I got it for my first time. Wowee!

Akumajou Dracula - I beat Death for the first time.  Really easy if you have Level 3 Holy Water!

Yes. In fact that whole stage is easy with the Holy Water, even the cursed hallway of knights and Medusa heads. The Medusas are still annoying, yes, but Holy Water tears those knights to shreds.

FC Genjin and Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu are the games I played recently.

Started playing Akumajou Densetsu again - got past that pirate ship stage (I always used to die on the see-saw bit).

I played a little Akumajou Dracula before that and got Dracula nearly to his second form.  It won't be long before I can beat it at last.

- Nightstar I figured out that hallway you have to jump and throw the holy water (against the knights), then it's a breeze.  Trying to get through without using the holy water is pretty tough.

Very good, Dracula's first form requires patience and precise timing. I'm pretty sure it's only possible to hit him once per teleport cycle. There might be a strategy to get in more than one hit, but I'm guessing it's extremely risky. So I prefer to take that battle nice and slowly... then for his second form, I just unleash that Holy Water. (Jump and use holy water, then repeatedly jump and whip his head)

Beating that form without Holy Water? No clue, never tried it, and I'm guessing it's incredibly difficult, and a bit luck reliant, too.

Last games I played:

Bucky O'Hare - Beat it, but died dozens of times in the process.
Akumajo Special: Boku Dracula Kun - Beat it without dying, yay.

I'm new to Famicom. My 1st game I completed was Kid Dracula, I sold the cart on, with the intention of buying a CIB, and I miss it already.
I'm now going to mix and match with Cart only and CIB as I really want to focus more on playing stuff rather than collecting (which I have been guilty of in the past) Of course, its nice to have complete looking games for box art and Japanese colour manuals, but my funds simply don't allow that.

Anyway..enough of that! I'm currently playing Rolling Thunder and guys..I'm struggling!! anyone here beat this on a one credit run...?
I'm loving it, but finding it very challenging :-)

These were the 1st set of Famicom games I bought. Semi blind buys, with tiny research so they were surprises, but just to check they werent rpgs or anything too text heavy as I'm in the UK and I don't speak any Japanese (save a few words)

I've played them all and some of them are really fun, I've only played them for limited amounts of times as I'm rotating my family computer and rolling thunder at the moment.

(I've also bought several disk system games for when that arrives..again, this is all new to me) don't get me wrong, this isnt a fad, I loved and still love the NES with all of my gaming heart, very special console, considering I've bought so many Japanese consoles over the years, I'm still puzzled why I never bought a famicom for so many years. hehe

Terrific games, from those I can tell you that Ninja Ryukenden II, Musashi No Ken, Ninja Hattori Kun and GeGeGe No Kitaro are marvelous. Haven't played the others.
