Hao-Kun no Fushigi na Tabi on FDS.

Finally beat it today - it took 17 lives, and the final 2 castles are in the NES downgraded version (Mystery Quest - which I've played a ton of it in the past - even maxed out the score!), so they were easier than the first 4!

At least you only need to beat the game once unlike the NES one where you have to beat it 4 times in a row to see the true one screen ending!

The other night I played through Bomberman. I've been a fan of the series since Dynablaster on the Amiga, didn't realise the first game was quite so primitive - it got pretty repetitive over the 50 levels, but it was alright for one play through.

I played through this game about a year ago and had the same feeling. I enjoyed it for one session but I'm not sure if I'll ever go through the whole thing again. It would be kinda neat to try to get some of the special bonus items but some of them have crazy requirements.
Favorites: Castlevania, Metroid, Namco 18

Oh I don't know about those, will have to look them up :)

Devil World, seems kinda batshit, and good fun!

Pandamar.. well it's Pandamar. Just a pity the music sucks so much.

And one I've forgotten the name of, which is a hack of Binary Land. I like the game, but will switch to the original Binary Land for the cute penguins when my other multicart arrives.

Playing Dirty Pair: Project Eden on the FDS.  Trying to get Twitch working, if anyone is interested: http://www.twitch.tv/uglyjoe_fw/

edit: Twitch test over for now.  Here's the short version: http://www.twitch.tv/uglyjoe_fw/v/17861006

Played through Castlevania earlier last night when the internet was down, then played through Castlevania III this morning when I woke up early and couldn't fall back to sleep.  Great games, though I like part III better.

Does anyone else (besides me) find the Japanese version of part III so much easier than the NES version?  Everything from weapon / item placement to the enemy damage system makes the Japanese version of the game easier, not that the game is much of a challenge for me anymore either way.

It definitely is easier than NES version.
On later stages you don't lose like 4 bars of health after you got hit from every enemy. It depends of what enemy you touched, and you lose far less health.
And some bosses in general feel easier, like Dracula 2nd and 3rd forms (you can simply stay in ducking position when it drops a blood or something at you, and you don't get hit unlike in NES version). Not to mention that you started near him once you die, and not get thrown back to the beginning of the level before Dracula.
Not to mention that due to VRC6 chip, you get far better music. :)
But, in my opinion, the difficulty just feels more balanced here, than in NES version.

I played Akumajou Dracula last night with a view to complete it without losing a life (and thus get to Drac with powered up Level 3 Holy Water).

~~ Sadly I got cocky in the first form and got hit a couple of times when he reappeared...

Beat it on my 2nd life though first time after, so I'm chalking that up as a successful 1CC now.  8)

Still not quite sure how to get through the last stage without being hit at least once by those damn fleamen AND keeping the level 3 Holy Water...

Did you watch the run of it I posted a short while back? I believe I demonstrated the proper strat vs. the stage 6 flea-men, requiring just one usage of Stop-Watch per room.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

I didn't watch that - I've done the stop watch before, but managed to get through that whole section somehow with only getting caught on the second stairs.

So I got to Drac with half health and then got hit twice and died :(

I just want to fight Drac with Level 3 water :D

With Drac though, it really makes no difference if you fight with level one or level three water.  You can do either, without taking damage.

Last game I played was Solbrain.  I've been in a gaming mood lately...actually since my workload has increased drastically over the past couple of months (due to some side ventures I am involved in), I've been seriously thinking about making it a goal to play games much more often, as a way to destress in the evenings.  I would love to have the goal of an hour a night, but I think the goal of one or two game nights per week would be more realistic.  :)

With that said, I played Solbrain last night, cleared all of the zones but one of them, and I think I could have cleared it too (I made it to the boss) if I would have just given it a few more tries.  But it just got so late, so I then decided to go to bed...oops, and guess what?  I overslept today (I swear I didn't hear the alarm go off!) and was late to work by half an hour, so no games for me tonight.

But Dave I want to completely overpower him and also beat the game on one life all the way through with Holy Water :D

I've also been doing the same as I've gotten busier and using the Fami to destress when I get in the door.

I played and beat Spartan X2, played some VS Castlevania, then a bit of TMNT, some Max Warrior and lastly some Dr. Mario with the wife.  Happy times.

VS Castlevania? That's a thing?
