Well this is my first "official" post here at FAMICOM WORLD, but I may as well get started
off with a bang.  Had the day off today and I've been playing my AV Famicom off and on
all day.  Today I played the following...

Super Contra
IKARI III: The Rescue
Highway Star
Crisis Force
Downtown Nekketsu Story
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario World
(HK "bootleg")
Samurai Spirits 2
(HK "bootleg")
Legend of Kage

Figuring on powering up Dragon Ninja and The Goonies
before the night's over though, and one day by GOD I'm going to
beat "The Goonies" ... it's never happened though since those
days back at the arcade playing the VS. cabs.

The Goonies has a very satisfying ending so don't give up. Great compilation of games you played there. I wish I was lucky enough to play all day in my days off but alas the wife wants to go places.....sometimes I feel like a cab driver lol

Gosh, I wish someone would hurry up and find another Power Joy. I know they exist, likely 001-008 or more, but they never show up for sale. PJ-008 is awesome.

FamicomFreak

I saw one on ebay I was watching a while back. They took it out of auction after a day or two. I wish I had bid on it.

I 've been playing The japanese version of river city ransom (downtown something, don't remember).
Gotta learn some japanese 'cos i don't understand a thing when i enter to the shops to buy something !!!
Long live to the Pirates !!!

Just beat for the first time in 17 years...

Strangely enough, beating the Arcade PCB of
P.O.W. is easier (at least to me) than the Famicom
port.  Once I figured out the hit detection glitches on
what appears to be the same playing field but isn't
though... it was smooth sailing until I made a bone headed
mistake.  But the last boss fight I forgot, how stupid it all
was.  Guy was waaaaaaaaaay too over powered.

But I'm pumped.  ;D

Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari ("Story") if I remember correctly.  It's a long assed title to begin with, will always be just River City Ransom as far as I'm concerned.  The key I've found to winning at the Fami version without knowing Japanese is to have played the NES version enough, that you're familiar with the product placement of Karma Jolt, *Stone Hands, Dragon Feet, Javelin Man... and of course The Texas Boots.  Outside of that, I figure if an item is expensive on the Yen scale in the respective stores, then it's gotta' be close to the USD in RCR.  It's how I play anyhow.  Just like how I more or less memorized the cut scenes in English of Ninja Gaiden, so I actually watch the scenes in Ryukenden and know exactly when Robert TS is going to be all:  "Move it Hayabusa... get to the tower of laja!"

The above you quote is just the Famicom version of the NES...

If you've never experienced the awesomeness of
P.O.W. ~Prisoners of War~, by all means
run out and find a copy.  Especially if you like/love
Beat 'Em Up/Roving Brawlers.
