Windows Movie Maker doesn't cut it at all.  Even after I publish the video from Movie Maker, it still takes like 4 hours to upload a 5 minute video.

Before logging on 'bout half an hour ago or so
I played me the following on the AV FAMICOM...

~JACKAL
~Buggy Popper
~Super Contra
~Gradius 2
~Hello Kitty Balloon Adventure
~KAGE (Shadow of the Ninja)

first time I'd had the day to myself to just "veg"
out, so I made it a Famicom day, probably power
up the Mega Drive in a bit.
Gaming peaked in the 8-Bit & 16-Bit eras...
all else is just rehashes and insanity passing
itself off as "gaming."

Recently got in a shipment of games from JC as well as a bunch of pirate famis, so I spent a few hours last night "testing" them. I was sadly disappointed w/ a lot of the games tho. I kinda expected the pirates to have a ton of repeats, but didn't find too many games on them that I cared for, including a game that I have no idea how to play (Astro Robo Sasa). At least they all seemed to have over 15 unique titles, and decent ones at that (Rockman on one, a Street Fighter II hack on another, Contra on a third). What really bummed me out tho was playing a bit of both Metroid and Zelda 2 on the FDS. I've tried them both in the past on the NES and wasn't impressed, but I was kinda hoping if I gave either of them a shot it would be different. And while I can't say that I really tried too hard to like them this time, from what I've seen they do not seem like games I'd want to play. Oh well, got em for my collection anyway. (I got into playing Castlevania after I got the FDS version and now love it after disliking it on the NES, so there is SOME precedence as far as why I thought I might like these even tho I didn't in the past.)

Also I had thought the Wizardry games were all in English (or there was a way to select them to be), but after trying it, seems like it's half in English and half in Japanese. Unless I did something wrong.

Most of the Famicom games were of the platformer/arcade variety and, I'm sorry, they felt rudimentary at best. But you know the Famicom was around for so long that you have stuff like wrecking crew on the one hand and Super Mario 3 on the other; Karate or Fist of the North Star on one end and Mike Tyson's Punch Out or Double Dragon on the other. This is really true of the Famicom side (ie games not released on the NES). Plenty of jewels to discover, but twice as many are games that weren't ported for obvious reasons (cuz they suck).

I'm also sure that my particular tastes have more than a little to do with it. Even games that are considered to be classics (the aforementioned Metroid & Zelda 2, Mega Man, Super Mario Bros) I just can't get into. At least in those cases, tho, I can appreciate what others see in them. Astro Robo Sasa tho? Green Beret? Heck, Mario Bros Arcade? GOOD GOD NO! Some of them seem like Atari 2600 games with a few more colors and a background. Others aspire to have the control of a good Atari 2600 game!

Wow, I didn't mean to rant like this. It was just  a bit disheartening to play so many games and not find anything that I enjoyed. Well, I did like the Golden Axe hack, shame that the graphics were a bit scrambled tho (is this a hack, an original or just a renamed game?). I think my frustration was compounded by the fact that I couldn't get the NES pirate to work and the Famicom to NES adapters also wouldn't work in my toaster (probably due to how most games need to be positioned a certain way to work properly and that's difficult if not impossible to do w/ the adapters).

That's what you generally find on pirate multi-carts. They tend to use games with simple or no mappers, therefore you don't see complex bigger games on these carts much.

Oh that's definitely true, and I really don't ever expect much from multi pirates like that. There were some complex games on them, tho most of it was typical pirate stuff (Nuts & Milk, ChackN Pop, SMB, Mario Arcade, etc). Trying to play "Fancy Mario" (ie Dream Mary, etc etc) was one of the "highlights" but it's only good for a minute or two before the effect becomes boring. There were even a couple games I'd never played, but I can't say they were all that good (Warp Man, for instance, which sounds like either a rename of SMB or a Mega Man boss).

Can't go wrong with Castlevania.  It is one of, if not my most favorite series.  There isn't any of them I hate on any system (though I hate the Wii, so whatever comes out on that I will not see).  Looking forward to the PS3 release.  Though I wish they would go back to 2d on the main systems.  As for Zelda II, it is my favorite of all the Zelda games, so to each his own I guess.
