Beat Doki! Doki! Yuuenchi (game that was later turned into Trolls in Crazyland for PAL NES)... Definitely a great game (was also surprised by a second/final boss battle AFTER the credits, followed by a final ending screen).  Though the two final bosses were rather average in difficulty (the prior stage boss [giant cat thing] took me many tries to beat).  Has several rollercoaster type levels that remind me greatly of the mine-cart levels in Donkey Kong Country.  The 3-d-esque platforms are rather SNES-like as well...

Currently playing Samurai Pizza Cats (on the same 2-game multi-cart as Doki! Doki Yuuenchi  :P)  I believe I'm near the end, but the game has been really easy thus far  :-\  Still, it appears to have some of the best animated cut-scenes of any 8-bit games (despite the fact I can't read any of them).  General gameplay is great (very Mega Man-like with 7 characters [5 switchable at any time during play], each with multiple, unique special abilities [including swimming, smashing walls/blocks, flying, digging, and various special attacks]).

I would recommend both of the mentioned games--both are top-notch side-scrollers.

EDIT:  And just beat Samurai Pizza Cats...

What's with games called Doki Doki becoming different games? :D

Lol, good point nenson. I love samurai pizza cats! I have it on game boy advance on 25 in 1. Might play it in a bit.....
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

If you have the cart, does yours ever play somewhat choppy?  My graphics don't glitch on mine at all, but it stops a bit at times, perhaps similar to sprite overload I suppose (would have to paly it again to give a better description... it isn't terrible)... I got it recently and wondered if this is typical with the hack...

NintendoKing

I have played it all the way through and never had it overload, do you play it on a famiclone or an real famicom.
