I've got a question for you guys regarding the ol' Sega CD.

Over the years I've played numerious games on that system some great such as Lunar: The Silver Star others not so hot like Sewer Shark. I went to play Lunar recetnly but I guess it has a scrach in it and wont boot up properlly. My question is this:

Does the Sega CD have any copy protection and if not, can it play burnt games? Info on the net would seem to suggest it can, but I'm wondering if any of you know anything speicifc about it.

I'm presently downloading a torrent of Sega CD games, and I hope to be able to create playable copies of my childhood favoritres and some I've never played before, like Snatcher. I heard that its real good.

The Sega CD has no protection. As far as I've read, it's just burn and play. Nothing special about the burning either like with Dreamcast.

Woo, nice!

I guess I need to get a Sega CD when I'm in Japan.

Can anybody recommend me some good games? (You may know my favourites are platformers, adventures and RPGs)

Does anyone know just how to make a Sega CD rom into a playable version on the actual hardware? For instance, Snatcher(U). I downloaded it from ROMmantion and the rar file is like this:

Snatcher 02.mp3
Snatcher 03.mp3
Snatcher 04.mp3
Snatcher 05.mp3
Snatcher 06.mp3
Snatcher 07.mp3
Snatcher 08.mp3
Snatcher 08.mp3
Snatcher 10.mp3
Snatcher 11.mp3
Snatcher 12.mp3
Snatcher 13.mp3
Snatcher 14.mp3
Snatcher 15.mp3
Snatcher 16.mp3
Snatcher 17.mp3
Snatcher 18.mp3
Snatcher 19.mp3
Snatcher 20.mp3
Snatcher 21.mp3
Snatcher 22.mp3

As well as Snatcher.iso which is another rar inof itself contining countless .bin data files.

I tried burning it streight to a disc but the Sega CD won't reconize it. Any help?

I'm using Win XP and use Nero 6.

Well you should have disc juggler (download the free demo on google) , which is what I use to burn Sega CD games. Then, open Disc Juggler, open the Snatcher ISO folder, take the Snatcher ISO, and drop it in disc juggler. Disc Juggler should give you options a couple of options to prepare the cd. Click on the one ,''Make disk image''. Then you just insert a blank CD and click on start to burn the game. Hope that helps :)

I don't own a Sega CD, but I think if you don't add the MP3s as audio tracks on the CD you won't get any music from the game, you have to join them someway as audio tracks after track 1 which is the data track.

edit:  The cue file doesn't work entirely.  The game gets stuck while trying to load any of the driving scenes  :-\

There's a program called Sega Cue Maker that will generate a cue file for you to use.  Tell a competent burning program to use that cue file, and it should work.  I actually downloaded the iso/mp3 rip last night, so I have the cue file already.  It's working for me in an emulator.  The cue file is:
