Ahh, okay, my mistake. Congratulations on conquering Batman, The Joker most certainly isn't a joke in that game.

Took me like 3 goes, I gave up trying to work out a pattern and just had a really lucky streak with some heavy button bashing... the relief when he dropped down... finally my thumbs can rest  :D

Found a couple games at the thrift store today. They're in pretty good condition, except for that Tengen Pacman...
I'll probably die surrounded by plastic crap.

What city do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? Here in Sacramento, there's nothing but Genesis sports games and DualShock controllers at my local thrift stores. And I've been to 10 or 12. :)

Of course I don't mind haha. I live in Huntington Beach, while my parents live in the neighboring city of Westminster in Southern California. I frequent thrift stores in both cities, and I came across those games at a shop in Huntington. I'm with you on that, I always find the same sports games crap at Goodwill and Salvation Army, but the above games were found at a small, mom and pop thrift store. That place always has good shit. I've found mint cartridges of Pokemon Red and Silver there, as well as that Extreme Green Game Boy Pocket there for less that $3 a piece. That particular Pocket is hard to find I'm told.

Southern California seems like a goldmine for video games. Where I live in Northern California (Berkeley) stores don't even carry any games. All thrift stores have nothing but furniture and clothes, I couldn't imagine finding a video game at one... unless it was a shitty PS2 sports game for 20 dollars. Occasionally they'll have those.

Ugh those damn sports games. Wow, it's that bad? I'm sorry to hear that that Nightstar, that sucks. A few highlights of games I've found in the past 12 months at thrift stores include;
The above games I mentioned
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Wall Street Kid (this game is shit, but strangely, I can play it in 2 hour intervals)
Zanac
Jackal
NES Advantage
NES Four Score (makes a great controller extension cable, plus TURBO)
and 2 NES dog bones
Its been a good run, hoping it doesn't falter  ;D

Speaking of Mega Man 4... the one good local find I ever had here was a factory sealed Mega Man 4 on NES, I found at a toy store for 10 dollars. I was going to open it up and play it, but I already have Rockman 4 on Famicom, and I couldn't pass up all the money I could make selling it... so yeah, I sold that shit. Bought some great games with the cash. It was pretty nice.

But that's NEVER going to happen again, I've never found anything worth mentioning locally besides that. Which is fine because I really only play Famicom and NES, and I just order online for those. Congratulations on your finds, though. Sounds like a wonderful paradise for video games.

You live in Berkeley? I work in Emeryville so I take Amtrak through Berkeley 5 days a week. The last time I actually stopped in Berkeley was for that Ghibli festival last year (Kiki and Mononoke....yeeeeeaaaaahhhh!!!!)

In other news, my wife and I went through several thrift stores today in Sutter's Creek, and Jackson, on the way up to my dad's house in the mountains. I found a boxed, complete NES Silent Service for $5 (didn't buy it), and a book store with a PsOne, Gamecube Gameboy Player, and a few other not-super-interesting-but-not-sports titles. Better than in Sacto, but...nothing worth buying. I hear the Oakland Swap Meet is a good place to find games.

Ahh, I've been to Emeryville a few times. Have you ever checked out the game selection in Alameda? It's atrociously unfair... Berkeley has not one single place to find video games... Alameda has two! Alameda Game Exchange (which has an absurd selection to choose from, so I'd suggest you check them out... be warned, they're the type who charge $100 for a Famicom multicart), and Play N Trade (which has a much smaller selection at all times, but great prices. I got my beloved copy of Power Blade there for 3 dollars)

I do think it's a bit ridiculous how little there is to be found in my neck of the woods, as most other people online seem to live in magical video game thrift store/flea market land... however, I'm very much thankful that I'm able to get any games whatsoever (online), so I can't complain too much.

Speaking of flea markets.... dear God, the Berkeley flea market. It's nothing but potheads, crackheads, and old people selling pottery, knick-knacks, and various homemade objects and jewelry. Great flea market, Berkeley. A necklace constructed out of teeth which reeks of marijuana and urine is totally a game I can play on my NES. Thank you.

Nice find on that sealed Mega Man 4! I would've done the same thing as you, maybe use the cash towards a copy of Recca. Speaking of flea markets and swap meets, they're all the same shit over here. Sun-damaged labels, and anything and everything with Mario in the title sells for $30+. It's redic. The only good NES item I've found at the weekly swap meet across the street, was a Gyromite cart with the Famicom adapter inside. The great thing was, I actually went there with the intention of finding said adapter  ;D

I picked up a few good SNES carts at a thrift store a couple of weeks ago for $2 apiece. I kept the Kirby's Avalanche. I'm posting this to the NES finds thread because I took the other three (Mario Kart, Mario-All Stars, and Mario World 2) down the street and traded them to a game store for a copy of P'Radikus Conflict for the NES. Wound up getting a $40 Color Dreams cart for $6. I had to do it, given how that was one of the few 72 pin games I'd never played.

I got a copy of Terra Cresta in the mail today. I bought it on eBay last week.

This might actually be my last licensed, US NES game. (I'd love to get an NTSC Little Samson someday, but I've got a cheaper-but-still-legit PAL copy so it'd have to be a yard sale/thrift store miracle I think.) Aside from Samson, the only three left on my radar are Goal 2, Nobunaga's Ambition II, and Stadium Events (I know, "Dream on!"). I played Goal 2 once, and found it decent enough that I'd like to try it again someday.

NAII and SE are the only licensed US releases that I've never played for the NES. Honestly, I have probably no interest in actually buying and adding either to my collection. At this rate, I'd just like to spend 10 minutes apiece with them in my console just to say that I've played the entire catalog on original hardware.

It's a good thing I had the day off from work! On Craigslist, I found a yard sale this morning offering an NES in the original box, and it was only two blocks from my house! I'll admit, I've gotten a bit cynical about my odds on these things. As NES prices have skyrocketed, resellers have become very aggressive in my area (as well as the rest of the country). When I do still manage to find things, they're often vastly overpriced.

Well, I had to go and check this out. I'm glad I did. I came home with a gorgeous, barely worn NES Action Set in the box, as well as a Power Pad in an equally excellent-+ Power Pad retail box. There was also a small game case with a few junk games. And it's all mine, for a reasonable $50!
