And yet, I watched them whenever they were on tv  ;D

Link's Awakening is my favorite, but that doesn't make it the best.

Link's Awakening might be the hardest of the series, I still haven't beaten it.

I have a feeling the animators of Zelda wanted a more Americanized version of Link. Brash, headstrong..

Kind of like the American kid in Captain Planet. All the other multi-cultural children get rings with the powers of wind, heart, etc and the brash headstrong American boy gets destructive fire...

That show was terrible, as well as the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

no that show is not bad!
i loved it!!

The Zelda cartoon was watchable.. just to see what boneheaded decisions Mr. Brown-haired Link makes while Zelda saves his ass at every turn...

I haven't played  Link's Awakening. Is it the gameplay or story that really stands out?

I dunno, but it's great.

Probably gameplay, story is weird, though :P

I'll probably get killed for this... Twilight princess.

Twilight Princess indeed had improved controls, somewhat interesting new storyline, etc., but... there were many, many flaws with the game.
-Lack of sidequests
-Severe lack of difficulty (although all 3d zeldas are too easy to a certain degree)
-TOO MANY RUPEES, and rewarding nearly every sidequest with rupees
-Far too much focus on dungeons, with almost no time between the later dungeons, such as City in the Sky - Twilight Palace - Hyrule Castle
-Stupidly easy boss fights, such as Zant and Ganondorf
-Very linear gameplay. While I'm not a fan of completely free exploration, Twilight Princess had a very set order of events, unlike other games, ex. in OoT, after awakening 7 years later, you are free to explore Hyrule and find out what has happened over the seven years, but you do have to eventually get the hookshot and beat the forest temple before the other temples
The list could go on...

The gameplay is very similar to ALttP's, and the story is average. But other features, such as the dungeon key system and the telephone booths make for a very interesting game. Link's Awakening is also on the game boy, Nintendo's least powerful system, and is nevertheless an excellent game.

It has some rather bizarre story elements, which is why I think I like it.  I also love Gameboy music when it's done right (and it is definitely done right in Link's Awakening).  The gameplay is very smooth, too, like ALttP (although not without its share of slowdown moments).

I know!
My wallet is full, and I keep finding big rupees in chests :P
What Am I going to do with 50 rupees in the last dungeon of the game?

I know! I love the music in LA. You see, it was literally the first game I owned when I was 3. It holds a special meaning to me. By the way, anyone hear Totaka's song in Link's Awakening? It's so obscure. You have to wait in the frog prince's house for like 3 min and then it suddenly starts playing!
