I had the same problem Jearb...

I wanted a Famicom...but my parents didn't approve because "I would just be buying another system to spend more money on"

It totally depends on this, are you buying it with your money...or are your parents buying it for you?  If it's the first option, then tell them it's your hard-earned money!

I got an original CIB Famicom w/ A/V Mod for $128 (Which means nostalgia AND the crisp-est picture and sound a Famicom can possibly offer!)

I got Joy Mech Fight CIB for $35 + $5 Shipping!! :D

Nostalgia? Weren't you born after the Famicom was dead?  :P

Who was that last post aimed at Jearb?

And son_ov_hades.....

so? :P

It was aimed at son_ov_hades, despite its blubbering nonsensical-ness. But I have to say, I guess it's still nostalgia even though I didn't live through it...Nostalgia is defined as a "longing or wistful affection for the past" - nothing more.

So I think I can be as nostalgic as I want.   :P

It could be nostalgia if you grew up playing games on a Famiclone or NES, even if the Famicom platform was "dead" by the time you were playing it, it's still nostalgia since it's part of your past.

I had to quote the word dead, since with the neverending rush of Famiclones from China and also this awesome community, I'd say that the Famicom is anything but dead ;D.

I agree. Anything, be it a person, an achievement or a videogame console, isn't really dead unless nobody remembers it. Therefore, I think the Famicom is very much alive and kickin'.

By the way, the Famicom gets you all the ladies. Dudes too, if that's your thing. You won't be lonely is what I'm saying.

Best reason to buy a Famicom:

YOU WANT IT.

Ugh...

God. I told my parents all of the reasons for getting a Famicom and why, and my mother still won't let me get one. Her reasons:

- You have a bunch of friends who have retro consoles - and now they want new systems
- Why would they be selling them, if they're so awesome?
- You have a Dreamcast, Wii, Xbox, and a Gamecube downstairs, and you never use them
- $90 is a lot of money.

I'm so angry...anyone have ways to combat those reasons?

:o Calm down now...you don't need to take it to that extreme.

EDIT: In all seriousness, $90 is a lot of money, especially under the current economic strain. Maybe you should play your other consoles, people sell them to make money, and I'd love to live somewhere where friends had a bunch of them; I'm all alone around here, it seems.

Jearb

Edited - my friends just have retro consoles. :D

Yeh...I did get Okami for the Wii, and I've been playing that, but...

It's not the same! (sobs)

$90 is a lot of money (But I still paid more for mine).... but I come back to my first question......

Who's paying for it?  You or your parents?

Oh, if it isn't your money, I can understand that. If you get an allowance, just save up. That's what I did for like 2 months. It's worth it, man. Offer to shovel people's driveways, or whatever.
