What are your thoughts on the current gen systems? Wii/PS3/X360?

i have a Wii and i love it...
there are some really fun games to play on it, but sometimes the wiimote can get laggy with the tv sometimes....

as for the other two systems i feel that the PS3 is the better choice....

Why? because i looked at the many different games from both systems that interested me, and i found that most of them can be played on both PS3 & 360, but there were some PS3 only games that really caught my attention (NobyNoby Boy coming soon)...

LBP sucks ass :P

well, all the dang moderation does anyway!!

   -  If people are worried about dodgy xboxes, the new [JASPER] units are virtually ringproof.  I'll be getting one of those, you can tell them apart easy enough buy a code on the back, you don't have to open the box or nothin'.

I was gonna get a PS3 for ages but I'll wait till the slim one arrives if it ever does.  I just realsied 90% of my friends are on xbox and I can't pass that up just to have blu-ray!

I keep telling myself that one day I will get an XBox360. It has a lot of titles I like on there...
Silent Hill 5
Resident Evil 5
There's a new LOTR
Dead Rising
Left for Dead
Bioshock
Too Human
Overlord
Halo 3
Conan
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Fable 2
Plenty of others given time.
I have a hard time justifying the initial layout for the console... and then have a harder time justifying $60 a pop per game. I can buy TONS of classic games for 60 bones if I shop right. Though I imagine that one of these days I will get one... just as soon as Micro$oft finds a way to keep them from turning into expensive paperweights.

I don't own any of the new systems past PS2, and never will.  I see their merit and cannot deny that they give today's player the scope of interactivity that just wasn't there 25 years or more ago... but I just can't plug into them. I've tried and it doesn't work at all.  For me, *The Arcade* style of gaming is what I grew up with, and evolved further with the console gaming.  The types of games coming out today on all three current systems just don't call to me, no matter how good looking/high resolution.  I want something I can plug into for 45 minutes to possibly 2 hours max, then be done with it.

I see the Xbox 360 as the worst console ever manufactured.  It's kick ass but unreliable.  The PS3 is a wonder machine but one that doesn't do anymore (in my opinion) than the X360... and the Wii is purely of it's own devices, but little more than GameCube 2.0, and honestly, I didn't have any problems with my GC when it was out.  Nintendo just had to repackage their (then) existing technology with a slight jump up and throw in a gimmick.  In reality, none of these systems are NEXT GENERATION at all, it's just more of the same.  When we've got StarTrek *Holodec* type deals or some sort of SimStim William Gibson (Neuromancer) type deals... then we'll have arrived at a true paradigm shift in technologies that is the true harbinger of "next gen".  I probably won't give a damn when that time comes though... the older I get the more I just stick with Famicom, Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Atari 7800 and Neo:Geo.  I won't fault anyone else for liking the new stuff at all, and of course the generations coming up today probably couldn't be arsed to play the games of most of our youth here, unless of course they come up in a household where they grow up playing it too.

Technically, these are all next gen consoles (Except maybe the 360) because they have their high points.  The PS3 can play Blu-Ray discs.  Although this technology may possibly become obsolete to DVDs within a few years, if not months..it still represents something of a new quality in display...

The Wii, I will admit, is kind of an overpriced gimmick, but nonetheless next gen, because it's the first to use infrared technology in such a big way.

The 360 was the first HD console, that's next gen if you ask me.

Augh. 360 has awful controller.
It is loud and ugly.
I don't think it has any great games. A few are ok, but...

Meh.

nintendodork

Yeah, it was the first HD console I guess...

But nurd is right, it's loud as hell...especially if you (surprise) use the HD cables

Nintendo needs to GET OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM. If they stay there, they'll only become more obliged to cater to the casual gamer. It's sad. D:

If they don't though, they'll lose profits overall :-\
It is sad though..some most of the games for the Wii are awful.
