Okay, I've got this Powerpoint I made on Vista saved to a removable flash drive...
I need to present it at school...but all the school computers have XP.  I tried plugging the drive into one of the school's computers, but it says it can't open it whenever I try and do so in XP Powerpoint.

Thanks in advance!

Can't you save the file to open in the XP version? See if that's one of the save options.

Rogles

If that doesn't work... Look up openoffice.org, and save your powerpoint as a powerpoint2004 document.

Yeah, you probably saved it as a .pptx file instead of a .ppt file.  It happens all the freaking time (moreso with .docx files, though).

nintendodork

Okay, I thought I saved it as a 97-03 presentation before, but apparently I didn't...
Now I need to edit slide 4 because XP is SHITTING DICK NIPPLES, but then after I do that, I'll test it on my SHITTING DICK NIPPLES computer and see what happens...

Hopefully it works this time :D

Isn't there an option to make a standalone presentation, i.e. no Powerpoint required on the computer you want to play it. I think I did that sometimes way back in the 90s.

nintendodork

Hmm...
You mean like open the file and go straight to a fullscreen presentation instead of actually opening PP and pressing F5?

Yes, something like that.

I don't have Powerpoint on my computer now, but back then I could save presentations as .exe files, maybe?

This way they could be run on any computer, even when Powerpoint was not installed. Maybe they scrapped this function in newer versions? I don't know.

nintendodork

Hey!  I'm glad to see you posting again Jedi!

Also, I got it saved as a .ppt file, Vista doesn't let you save powerpoints as .exe :'( That would be so much easier :D
The stupid thing is..After I saved my powerpoint as a .ppt, it also kept the original .pptx one in my flash drive...but it made me change a slide before it could be made into a .ppt because one of the backgrounds I used wasn't supported in XP, so I changed it, tried it on XP...and both of them worked -_-

Apparently, I just got pwn'd by SHITTING DICK NIPPLES >:( >:(

Is SHITTING DICK NIPPLES code for Windows XP? :P
