A month or so ago, I read somewhere that when you are having a lucid dream and you feel yourself waking up you can stay asleep by spinning around in a circle. I thought that sounded like the stupidest thing ever. After reading that, I thought about lucid dreaming a lot over the course of the day so that night I happened to have one. When I started waking up, I tried the spin-around trick and it actually worked. I stayed asleep long enough to try some crazy stuff, but of course it didn't work because whenever I try to alter my dreams it turns out like an ironic evil genie wish, but that's another story.

Yeah, and you can control everything around you.  Wanna shoot lasers from your ass?  (Probably not, but anyway...)  In a lucid dream, it's possible.

Had a dream last night where FW was getting hit up by spam bots again.  They had figured out some way of embedding links into the subject line.  So, like, whenever you clicked on a topic that they created, it went to some spam site.  Then I woke up and was like, "I wonder if SMF released a patch for this yet...".

Man I keep having those awesome dreams were I go to stores and find real cheap pirate games.

ME TOO! I once had a dream that I was in like Jamaica or something. I don't know, but I came to this shop where there was loads of these cool games for cheap, like Luigi sitting in a creek. Really.
I also had dream where I was really young, and we took a field trip to Arby's or something. Then my mom drove off, and when I tried to chase her, I just fell flat on my face every time. I also had a dream about rowing a rubber duck up a waterfall. I for some reason hated it. I also have lucid dreams sometimes. I know i'm in a dream, but they are not all good and dandy. The lucid dreams are always NIGHTMARES! Darn... I wish I culd have a good one.

I once had a dream about being in the parking lot of an abandoned video store in my town at 3:00 AM trying to chase a turtle along the sidewalk of said parking lot, but I couldn't catch it because I kept falling asleep and couldn't keep my eyes open to see it.  WTF is that supposed to mean?

I had a dream I went to this store that kept showing up lots of pirates & weird stuff, like a Star Fox 2 for SNES!

It even had a name - it was called Red-something.

It must have been named from those DVD kiosks they have in Von's.

I figured out a method to make yourself have a (mild) lucid nightmare. It works about 90% of the time and you can even adjust how bad the nightmare is.  They range from goonies scary to martyrs scary.

I know it sounds weird but they're always so creative, I find them useful for new ideas for characters, stories or settings.  Any writers, artists or budding game designers might know what I mean.

Sorry, I forgot about this.  Ok it's no secret method but I should say do it at your own risk, it gives very mild headaches if done properly:


So, before you go to bed get a large glass at least half a pint full of milk.  Use semi or full fat, I find semi actually works better but here's the trick - DON'T DRINK IT.    Leave it, I'm serious.  Leave it for at least an hour.  Preferrably an hour and a half or even longer

What I do is, I get that pint glass of milk, fill it 3/4 full and leave it while I play famicom for an hour or use my laptop to come here or play DS or whatever.

So, you can either wolf it down before you admit defeat and shut down OR you can wake up in the middle of the night and get it for maximum effect. 
You'll know it's worked if A) you had a mild nightmare and B) you have a super mild headache or stomach ache in the morning.  Telling my friend about this earlier he said you're basically poisoning yourself, so perhaps that's true. 
Yes, I've come to the conclusion that this is the reason cheese can give you nightmares, must be something to do with the bacteria in the milk but either way, I've had a much better success record with this than I have from cheese.

I'm sure all this sounds very odd, but it makes for the most amazing Goonies-esque dreams ever.  Challenging and only mildly scary but always in that immature adventure mindset.  Try it out and let me know.  So far I've only had one bad trip when I left the milk for about 5/6 hours.  That was a strong one.
