Haha, that's one frame full of action. I'm curious for the next frames.

satoshi_matrix

haha cleaver. I really ought to try my hand at these sort of scenes.

Yes you should--I'd like to see what you'd come up with  ;)

And thanks for everyones' comments thus far.  That last frame was a big one.  6 will be smaller again and I'm not certain how large 7 will be yet, but it will be the most customized frame and Rock and Link may make cameos along with introduction of another Mario character.

Medisinyl

Here is frame 6--it is mostly meant as a link between 7 and the rest of the comic, so it isn't much, and it has some unnecessary violence towards Mario, but I guess that is what I get for listening to Bonded By Blood while doing the last frame (Mario wasn't even planned to be in frame 6 :P).  But Lala conquers Mario, the white mage revives Lolo, and the text sets up frame 7...  Toad may seem concerned, but he really only wanted to inform Mario that the princess was in another castle...

[it was quite frustrating trying to figure out how to do a lower case "e" at the size I wanted]

Wow, in the last frame of page 4 of this thread, Mario was killed by a fire stick, hammers, AND a bomb!  And Lala was safe from all of them!  That last one of Mario's separate head is funny.  It reminds me of the face that the toad makes in Battletoads when he sees the first boss. :D

The "bomb" was intended to be the combined explosion of Bowser's flames and Lala's "Lolo" shots.  But ultimately Mario was facing death by the fire stick, hammers, Lala's shots, and Bowser's flames.  I've tried to include as many level staples as possible when doing the actual stages (the last frame was not done as a stage, so there was no background).  There is the fish, both the bush and hill thing from the first level, coral, bubbles "100" score, sewer pipe, Goomba, underground bricks, a coin, fire stick, 2 layers of each levels floor, Bowser, Bowser's flame, the floating platform, several forms of Mario (including the fireball), hammers, etc. (considering just the SMB1 stuff...the DDP/SMB2 "Bom(b)" is somewhat unrelated to Mario as far as this forum is concerned).

I'm not sure how the final frame will end up--nor have I been sure about any of the frames.  You can probably even go through the thread and see inconsistencies with plans I even posted (even some of the progress shots changed from the final versions).

I may go back to the Mustaine for the next beading session however.

Oh, and now that you mention it, I do see the resemblance to the Battletoads face :P

Medisinyl

Added another piece to the Mustaine...  It has become quite difficult to attach these pieces at these lengths.

And a shot standing up on a stool so I could take a less distorted (more straight on) shot of it:

It's coming along great!  I can tell you've put in a lot of time and effort just to get that far! :o

/\  Thanks--there has been a lot of language to get this far (particularly during the ironing).  I believe this may be as far as I will be going with this.  I may frame it with a signed Dave photo I got with the fan club.  Or I could be really ridiculous and dress the head in a shirt and jeans Dave actually wore and signed :P (I won't).

nintendodork

I'd go with the first one, if I were you :P

I think it would look pretty artsy and cool if it were framed with a signed photo of him.

The comic is done  ;D .  I don't think I have to explain what is going on, and please refrain from any blue ball comments, or anything about Link being in the closet with an exposed weapon.  Some may recognize what is hidden near Rock (a.k.a Mega Man).  Some Mega Man fans may be upset that I depicted Rock in all this debauchery, but if it is any condolence, he was first  ;)  I think everyone already knows that Link is adventurous  :P  If it were me, I'd probably flip the Goomba painting  :-\

EDIT:  The bed is a taller, longer, and color swapped version of a bed in another NES game (anyone know which one?)

And to give some idea of how big this has become (pictured with the very first NES game I ever owned since it was brand new back when I was about 5).

Were you born in 1980?

Medisinyl

/\  No, Jan '85, but that was still the main system being sold when I was 5  ;)  Didn't mean to suggest brand new as in the newly released system--just brand new off the shelf (as opposed to getting into the NES a few days ago and having bought that game first :P)

I just looked up when that SMB/DH multicart came out, and it was in Nov. '88, so I would have been off anyways.  :P
