? about Chrono Trigger SNES/SFC version

I know this sound pointless to some of you, but If I ever decide to get a SFC copy of Chrono Trigger, is there a way to remove the New Game+ and make it like new again?

Erase saved games

At the save game selection screen, select the save you wish to delete and press Start+Select on Controller 2. You will be given a Yes/No confirmation box before the save is deleted.

Dunno if that'll clear the New Game+ or not, though.

If that doesn't work, just remove the battery for a couple of seconds. I did that to a pre-owned Super Mario Bros Deluxe cart to erase the previous records.
