Just try one thing, & if doesn't work, try the other, & don't worry about the auction - Aladdin Deck Enhancers are abundant.

Alright, so I just tried Goo Gone on the label and the price tag on the back.  The results?

Horrible.  That stuff took the gold color out of the cart, as you can see in the first, and maybe second photo.  To show you how it should look, here's a pic of the side of the cart.  Most of the gold color is still there.

The game is awesome,  I haven't even tested yet.  I hope it works.  At least that'll make it something ::)  I hope I can get an upgrade in the future :-\

Ok, Goo Gone & gold carts = no

What will it look like when the gold is depleted? Black?

nintendodork

If you look at my first photo, it's really just this silverish color....so I guess  Goo Gone + Gold Cameica cart = Silver Camerica cart.....

There's plain white under the gold paint. My Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy cart is in terrible condition and you can see the white plastic underneath in several spots. Maybe one day I'll get some gold spray paint and try to fix it.

nintendodork

It wouldn't look or feel the same if you just spray painted it.

....Would it?

Why they did it, per Wikipedia:
"The idea behind the Aladdin Deck Enhancer was to provide a cheaper means with which to make the game cartridges, mainly because each cartridge requires its own 10NES lock-out chip, RAM and extra circuitry. Camerica was one of the major purveyors of unlicensed NES games, so the Deck Enhancer was a logical creation for them. Also, since the slot for the actual game was much smaller, less material was needed to produce a cartridge."

Bandai did the same thing with the Datach Joint ROM System for the FC.  It was an add-on that let you load smaller cartridges in the back of it.  It had a barcode reader, as well, but was definitely used as a means of not having to produce MMC's for all of their carts, as well.

Here are all of my unlicensed NES carts as of today:

Is it normal for Captain Comic's label to be upside down?  As far as I know all Color Dreams games have labels placed on just like official NES carts.

Cool stuff. :D

Aren't the Color Dreams cartridges like, expensive or something usually?

Just depends on the carts.  Either way, it wouldn't matter in my situation, because I got Raid 2020, and Dudes with Attitude for $2.50 each at the shit shop, and then I got the Camerica games at Gamers for ranging prices under $10.

EDIT*  Holy crap, I just checked jbholio's site, and his Captain Comic cart has a label facing the other way.  Awesome! ;D

Man, nice finds!!!

The only unlicensed games I have & am keeping are Spiritual Warfare and Gauntlet. I've played a bunch of others but don't care for them at all.

I swear all those deck inhancer games came out in Europ as regular carts so what was the need for the enhancer?  Cosmic Spacehead, Dizzy and Micro Machines definitely did as I remember playing them.

They were all by Codemasters, an English developer / publisher still doing ok even today.

Yeah, Europe just had regular carts.  The reason why they made the Deck Enhancer carts was already stated.
