That I'm not really sure of. I know the model 1 Genesis and SCD take the same power adapter, but I'm not sure they will work in a model 2. I remember someone saying on another board I go to that it works, but don't take my word for it.
hi

Pikkon

No,a model 1 and model 2 use different power adapters.

nintendodork

Just to clarify, I meant model one and model two Sega CD, not Genesis, if either of you didn't catch that. :-[

I just read up on it and yes, both the Model 1 and Model 2 SCD's take different power supplies.

If you're looking for a model 2 i'm sure a model 2 genesis adapter will work.
hi

Jollie

im not sure of that one. lol. my sega Cd model 2 adapter is:
(+)---(  )---( - ) and
input: 120V 60Hz 15W
output: 9V DC 1A

the sega genesis model 2s power is:
( - )---(  )---(+) and
input: 120V 60Hz 15W
output: 10V DC 0.85A

Ahh ok,but here is your answer.

A model 2 sega cd uses the same ac adapter as a model 1 sega cd.

nintendodork

My PBC power supply is exactly the same as Jollie's Sega CD model 2 power supply.  So the PBC power supply works with both of them.  Cool!

Sega Nomad is still my very favorite, Sega Genesis model.

Ok, so now, after I get a working Sega CD, I want to get a 32x (no jokes please), and apparently, it's total GAR-BITCH (okay, just one) and takes forever to hook up.  I looked up guides on how to do this, but most of them talk about hooking it up to the model 1, and they talk about another set of AV cables.  Do I seriously need two sets of composite cables AND another power supply?  Or am I reading this wrong?  Is it like the FDS where I have to connect the 32x to the Genesis 2 with AV cables, or do I not need AV cables at all, and instead some weird cable that only Sega could think of?

You need to run a patch cable from the Sega Genesis to the 32X and then plug your AV cable into the 32X. And yes, you need yet another power adapter.

nintendodork

Oh, that sounds more straightforward.  One set of composite cables plugged from the 32x to the TV, one cable connecting the 32x to the Genesis...

and yet another power adapter...

Thanks..I guess :-\ :P

hope it helps
btw: im looking for one too even if it is total garbage. knuckles chaotix and the doom with 7 missing levels are still cool.

Honestly, the 32x isnt worth it. It's only got about 30-40 games for it. None of them are really worth playing at all.

Not to mention it's a rather large energy hog. It's just bad. Really bad.
