Which famicom pirates do you want? I'll look for them...

If you'll do a search through this site, you'll see that many people have asked the same question, and almost all of them have been presented with the same answer.  No, this is not doable, because the Super Mario World pirate (and the JY 45-in-1) are mapper 90.  Mapper 90 is apparently a special mapper that is extremely hard to reproduce unless you sacrifice a mapper 90 game, which so far, are only known to be in the JY 45-in-1, the SMW pirate, and very few other games.  If you had either one of those, then it wouldn't make any sense to sacrifice it to make the same thing. :D

However, there are ROM dumps readily available on the internet, so you'll be able to play it on your computer, and possibly the PowerPak if Bunnyboy actually makes it compatible.  Mapper 90 is "planned", so we'll just have to wait and see I guess. :-\

IMO, the SMW pirate has crappy controls and is frustrating to play. I only have the demo version, but can't understand what all the fuss is over it, besides that it's rare. I certainly wouldn't pay $150 for the full version.  ::)

Was it really necessary to post that in two threads? ::)

I agree. Aside from that fact that it's uncommon, I have no idea why people care so much about it. There are loads of games people never even heard about yet, which I would say, are probably more uncommon than Mario.

But if some sucker wants to pay $150... Hey hey! Thats just more money for us sellers. :D

Rarity is certainly one of the driving factors with anything, and of course, it has to be known to a select group of people that are waiting for one to show up.

I recently bought a record (vinyl) for .13 cents (bulk average), and sold it for $810.00 on eBay after my girlfriend noticed signatures inside and I checked the value online (showed sales of $700-$1200 or so on Popsike).  Record by "The Topics" -- a group I've never heard of, nor anyone I know has heard of, but I guess when something only shows up for sale once a year, then people will scramble at the rare chance.

Of course, there are plenty of glass case items people will buy for $1000s just to have sit in the corner.  At least you can play SMW, and $150 is certainly nowhere near the price of a gold NWC cart.

Interesting about mapper90...

anyway....I'm going to post the pictures in this thread instead of the other one.  I'm starting to get a sense of what is sought after so if anyone is interested in these, give me a price offer...(again, I can't guarantee getting it, but I'll try)

(I know some of you have already asked for some of these...don't worry, I found multiples)

Those chips aren't strange. They are just epoxy globs used to prevent reversing.

OMG, Original SMB2j Kaiser label ! This label version is very rare !
I never understood why people care so much about rare/common label variations.  Especially for pirates.  The labels themselves have absolutely no value.

Anyway, that cartridge with the DIP switches looks pretty cool.

Noticed that as well.  I have a Kaiser SMB2j with a different label.

Switch cart looks cool, but an unnecessary pain to actually use (especially when I can't read any of the games  :P)

As for labels, to say they have no value themselves just isn't true.  They have a rarity and collector value of their own--sometimes hunting down every variation is the goal of a collector that has everything else.  I certainly can't afford being such a collector, so I may never fully understand it myself, but it does make sense as there are plenty of collectors determined to get everything.

I can sort of understand for official games (since there aren't nearly as many label revisions), but since pirates are cheaply made in the first place, I figure I'd behold something just as valuable if it came from my own printer.

Same for me, which is why I'm plenty happy with my pirated versions of expensive games (ANN, Recca, etc.).  But for collectors, it only takes two people looking for a rare item to potentially drive the price up.  And many serious game collectors seem to be exceedingly wealthy (those with nearly complete sealed NES collections and such are mind boggling).

Trenton_net

I think you guys hit the nail on the head. That's why I tend to stay away from common pirates. It is much more valuable and collectible to get items that are tangibly unique you couldn't get elsewhere. I mean, in some cases you can't get an item because its expensive, rare, or both. In those cases getting a pirate/clone makes sense. Same rules apply for Originals as well, like Resident Evil or Zelda 3. You just couldn't get the experience otherwise.

all the stuff I'm getting is from ruten.com.tw

you're welcome to look there yourself as well...pictures are just what I think people might want (can't get anything heavy though).
